Archive or delete messages, calls, or voicemails

You can hide messages and conversations or delete them from Google Voice.

For Voice for G Suite accounts managed by your work or school, text messaging is available only in the U.S.

Archive text conversations, calls, or voicemails

You can hide a conversation, call, or voicemail from your inbox without deleting it. If someone replies to a conversation you've archived, the messages will show up again in your inbox.

  1. On your computer, open Voice.
  2. Open the tab for Messages Messages tab, Calls Calls tab, or Voicemail Voicemail tab.
  3. Next to an item you want to hide, point to the profile picture and click the Checkmark Check mark. You can select more than one item at a time.
  4. At the top of the list, click Archive Archive.

Bring back text conversations, calls, or voicemails you archived

  1. On your computer, open Voice.
  2. At the top left, click Menu Menu and then Archive.
  3. Next to an item you want to bring back, point to the profile picture and click the Checkmark Check mark. You can select more than one item at a time.
  4. At the top of the list, click Unarchive Unarchive.

Delete a text conversation, call, or voicemail

After you delete a conversation, call, or voicemail, you can't see it again.

Important: You can't delete multiple text conversations at the same time. You must delete each one individually.

  1. On your computer, open Voice.
  2. Open the tab for Messages Messages tab, Calls Calls tab, or Voicemail Voicemail tab.
  3. Next to an item you want to remove, point to the profile picture and click the Checkmark Check mark. You can select more than one call or voicemail at a time.
  4. At the top of the list, click Delete Delete.
  5. At the prompt, click Delete.

Delete text messages

After you delete a text message, you can't see it again, but it could show up on the devices of the people you chatted with.

Delete one message

  1. On your computer, open Voice.
  2. Open the tab for Messages Messages tab.
  3. Click the conversation.
  4. Click the message you want to remove.
  5. Click More More and then Delete.
  6. Click Delete to confirm.

Delete more than one message

  1. On your computer, open Voice.
  2. Open the tab for Messages Messages tab.
  3. Click the conversation.
  4. Press the Shift key and click the messages you want to remove.
  5. At the top right, click Delete Delete.
  6. Click Delete to confirm.
