Manage your Nest Aware subscription on the Google Store

You can save recorded footage and receive advanced alerts when you purchase a Nest Aware subscription with a compatible Google Nest device. This article gives you details about taxes, payment methods, renewals, and cancellations.

Get a Nest Aware subscription from Google Store

You can sign up for Nest Aware to get more video history, smart alerts, and other useful household features. Learn how much Nest Aware costs.

To set up a new Nest Aware subscription:

  1. Go to store.google.com and sign into your Google account.
  2. Select Your subscriptions.
  3. Under "Available subscriptions," find "Nest Aware" and select Get started.
  4. Find the home you want to add to Nest Aware and select Get started.
  5. To set up your Nest Aware subscription, follow the on-screen steps.
  6. Your subscription will start after your $0 trial ends or within 24 hours if your trial has already ended.

Change your payment method

You can change the card or payment method you use to pay for your subscription.

  1. Go to Your subscriptions.
  2. Select Change payment method for the subscription you'd like to update.
  3. Select a payment method and then Update.

Switch your Nest Aware subscription

Important:

  • You can’t purchase any new Nest Aware - 1st generation subscriptions once you migrate your Nest account to Google.
  • You can’t change your billing plan cycle from monthly to annual or from annual to monthly.
  • You can upgrade from Nest Aware 2nd gen to Nest Aware Plus at any time.

You can switch between Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus at any time. Visit the Subscription Management page to change your plan.

On July 13, 2023, 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions will no longer be available for purchase. Any subscriptions that you currently have will continue to renew. Subscribe to the latest Nest Aware for continued coverage.

Cancel your subscription

Important: When you cancel a Nest Aware subscription, you'll lose your sound detection clips and any video you haven't saved. Before you cancel, learn how to save important clips.

To cancel your Nest Aware subscription, you first need to determine where you bought your subscription. Before you cancel, be sure to check the Nest Aware cancellation policies.

How to cancel if you bought through the Nest store

From your computer

  1. Go to the Nest Subscription management page.
  2. Sign in with your Nest account.
  3. If you have more than one home, select the home that has the subscription you want to cancel.
  4. In the “Subscriptions” section, select the subscription you’d like to cancel.
  5. Click Cancel subscription.
  6. To complete the cancellation, select Cancel subscription.

From the Nest app

  1. From the Nest app, tap Settings Settings.
    • Tip: If you have multiple homes, be sure to select the right home and camera.
  2. Tap Nest Aware.
  3. You’ll find a screen that lists some features of Nest Aware. At the bottom, select Manage Subscription.
  4. In the “Subscriptions” section, select the subscription you’d like to cancel.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription.
  6. To complete the cancellation, select Cancel subscription.
How to cancel if you bought through Google Store
  1. Go to the Google Store Subscription management page.
  2. Sign in with Google.
  3. On the “Subscriptions” page, select the subscription you’d like to cancel.
  4. On the right, select More More and then Cancel subscription.
    • Tip: A summary of charges will be provided.
  5. To complete the cancellation, select Cancel subscription.

How your Nest subscription is renewed

Subscription renewals are billed to your saved payment method every month or year automatically. Renewal periods are based on the billing cycle you selected when you first purchased your Nest Aware subscription.

Taxes on your Nest Aware subscription

When you subscribe through Google Store in Canada, Mexico, or the US, your billing address determines your taxes.

  • There’s no tax change in your current billing period if you move to a new home after you start your subscription.
  • Your next subscription payment, with a possible tax change, will be based on your new billing address.
  • Subscription price includes Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST).
  • You don’t get charged more in taxes in countries or regions with VAT or GST.

Tip: Your subscription invoice will explain the taxes you pay for your Nest Aware subscription. You can go to any of your invoices through Google payments center.
