Break out search metrics by Google Ads network type

In Google Ads engine accounts, you can group reporting data by Google Ads advertising network. For example, you can compare the number of impressions, clicks, and conversions that occurred on the Google Search network, Google Display network, and Search Partners network.

Limited data is available as far back as September 1, 2015:

  • You can see which search engine metrics are attributed to the Google Display Network and which metrics are attributed to both of the Google search networks together (engine metrics for both the Google Search Network and the Google Search Partners Network are summed together between September 1 and September 29, 2015).

  • You can see Floodlight conversion data attributed to the Google Display Network and the Google Search Network, but not to the Google Search Partners Network.

Starting on September 30, 2015, you can see which engine metrics and conversions are attributed to each network separately.

Be aware that if a report's time range starts before September 30, 2015, the conversion count may not match other reports, since it isn't possible to break out conversions for the Google Search Partners Network until September 30.

To group reporting data by advertising network:

  1. Navigate to a Google Ads engine account.
Optionally scope down to a specific campaign or ad group.

  2. Make sure the report's time range includes dates after September 1, 2015.

  3. Click the Dimensions▼ tab and select Network (with search partners).
The reporting table displays one row for each type of network that has recorded activity during the report's time frame. Only networks that have reported activity during the report's time frame appear in the table.

The Network (with search partners) column indicates which type of network is being reported in each row:

    • Search: Indicates that the row reports metrics for the Google Search network. Appears only if the network recorded activity during the report's time frame.

Between September 1, 2015 and September 29, 2015, this row reports engine metrics for both the Google Search network and the Google Search Partners network. The ability to distinguish between these two networks started on September 30th.

    • Search partners: Indicates that the row reports metrics for the Google Search Partners network. Appears only if the network recorded activity during the report's time frame.

    • Display: Indicates that the row reports metrics for the Google Display network. Appears only if the network recorded activity during the report's time frame.

    • Other: Appears if Search Ads 360 is unable to attribute metrics or conversions to a specific network. For example, offline conversions that are not attributed to a click ID are not associated with a network and therefore appear in this row. (Offline conversions that are attributed to a click ID appear in a row corresponding to the network on which the click occurred.)

  4. Optionally add conversion columns (such as Actions) to the reporting table.

  5. You can drill down into the data by applying segments.
For example, you could segment the report by month and by device to see metrics grouped by network, month, and device.

  6. Once you’ve found the data you want to analyze, you can download the data or schedule Search Ads 360 to download and email a report on a regular basis.
