Report on app extensions

Search Ads 360 provides the following views of app-extension performance:

  • Overall performance for each app extension in the account. For example, you can see the number of clicks Google Ads has attributed to each app extension across all campaigns and ad groups in the account.

  • Performance within each campaign. For example, you can see the number of clicks an app extension has generated within each campaign.

  • Performance within each ad group. For example, you can see the number of clicks an app extension has generated broken down by ad group.

You can view engine metrics, such as impressions, clicks, and cost, without any additional steps. To track activity that occurs after a click, set up Google Ads conversion reporting. Only some types of conversions can be tracked for app extensions.

View overall performance for each app extension in the account

  1. Navigate to a Google Ads engine account.

Steps for navigating to an engine account
    1. In the left navigation panel, click All accounts.
What if the left navigation pane isn't visible?

    2. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    3. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    4. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser that contains the engine account.

    5. In the "Account" list, click on the engine account.

    6. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the engine account page.

  2. Click the Extensions▼ tab and select App extensions.

  3. Optionally adjust the report's time range.

The reporting table displays all app extensions that been created in the account. Note that:

    • The Clicks with extension showing column reports the number of clicks on ads when the extension was showing.

    • The Clicks column reports the total number of clicks---with and without the extension showing.

For example if you scope to an ad group, the Clicks column in each row reports:
Number of clicks on all ads in the ad group without the extension showing +
Number of clicks when this row's extension was showing.

  4. To report conversions, add a custom Google Ads column that shows data from your app-promotion conversion tracker.

Floodlight reporting is not available for app extensions because cross-environment data is not available for app extensions (cross-environment reporting is required to report on app activity on Floodlight).

  5. Optionally download the report for offline analysis.

  4. (Optional) Adjust the report's time range.

  5. To report conversions, add a custom Google Ads column that shows data from your app-promotion conversion tracker.

  6. Segment the reporting table by app extension:

    1. Click the Segments button, which appears above the performance summary graph.

    2. Click the +Segments list in the segments panel and select App extension.

    3. Click Apply.

For each campaign or ad group, the reporting table contains a row for each app extension that's in effect for the campaign or ad group. App extensions that have no metrics attributed to them during the report's time range still appear in the table. See an example below.

When you segment by app extension, the reporting table displays these columns by default:

    • The Clicks with extension showing column reports the number of clicks on ads when the extension was showing.

    • The Clicks column reports the total number of clicks---with and without the extension showing.
For example if you scope to an ad group, the Clicks column in each row reports:
Number of clicks on all ads in the ad group without the extension showing +
Number of clicks when this row's extension was showing.

    • Other columns to identify the app extension.

  7. Optionally download the report for offline analysis.

Example segmentation

Campaign A

App extension 1 (account-level extension)

Campaign A

App extension 2 (applied directly to Campaign A only)

Campaign B

App extension 1 (account-level extension)
