Edit a Template

Caution: Your edits could cause Search Ads 360 to make extensive changes across one or more generated campaigns.

Before you start: Impact of editing a template

Many edits to template settings only affect items that are newly generated by the template and don't affect items that the template previously generated.

For example, a campaign template budget is only used when generating new campaigns. Edits made to this setting don't affect existing campaigns.

Other edits, such as to the campaign template name, cause the new Search Ads 360 to rename all existing campaigns associated with the template.

The following table lists the edits that will be applied to existing items, as well as edits that apply only when items are generated:

The new Search Ads 360 keeps track of the text ad or ad copy that was edited and doesn't generate a new ad. It updates an existing ad, allowing metrics to be carried over. For more details on which advertising platforms support this functionality, refer to this Help Center article.

  • Changing keyword text or match type removes the old keyword and creates a new one. Search Ads 360 keeps track of the keyword that was edited and doesn't generate a new keyword with the old settings, even if the templates would normally generate it.

Some broad match modifier behavior moved to the phrase match type.

Along with Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and Yahoo! JAPAN Ads, Search Ads 360 no longer supports creating broad match modifier (+) keywords in campaigns and keyword templates.

If a keyword template specifies the broad match modifier and Search Ads 360 is required to generate a new keyword, Search Ads 360 will generate a new phrase match keyword instead of a broad match keyword.
