Find, open & close apps

You'll find some apps on your Home screens, and all your apps in All Apps. You can open apps, switch between apps, and see 2 apps at once.

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 7.1 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Close apps

To get out of an app, tap Home Home. You'll return to your Home screen.

You don't need to close apps. Android manages the memory and battery that apps use, so you don't need to worry about leaving apps open. But you can close apps when you like.

First, tap Overview Overview. Then:

  • To quit one app, swipe that app left or right.
  • To quit all apps, scroll up to the very top and tap Clear all.

Get new apps

You can get more apps in the Play Store app Google Play. Learn how to download apps.
