Google drive folders as albums in Google photo

Hi,
I used to see my google drive folders as albums in google photo, every folder made an individual album.
Since the latest update of google photo I haven't been able to do that, anyone who knows if this still is possible?

Hi Martin,

Thanks for posting to the Google Photos Help Forum. This is still possible and I suggest checking your settings to make sure this setting is enabled. To do this, follow these steps:
  • Open Google Photos app
  • Click the dropdown menu in the upper lefthand corner of the screen
  • Click "Settings"
  • Enable "Google Drive" option
This will show your Google Drive photos & videos in your Photos library.

Cheers,
Krissy

Hi Krissy, thanks for your answer.
I might have been unclear, I do see my photos but they are organised according to date not in folders/albums.
Exempel:
If I have a folder namned HOUSE in Google Drive with pictures taken over the last 5 years the photos will not be sown as a album in Google Photos called HOUSE (like it did before). The photos are showed as individual and organised according to the capture date.
I used to see the folders stored in Google Drive as albums in Google Photos.

Hi Martin,

this isnt possible in Google Photos.
There are albums from GDrive are not visible.

But if you have a look at Picasa Webalbums you will see the albums.

Could I please request that this feature be added back to the Photos app? This was one of the greatest features for me who uses Lightroom to manage and edit my photos. In it's current state, I would have to manually create my albums twice. Once locally and once again in the cloud.

Thank you for the quick reply, I will use the feedback tool to make this suggestion. Regarding picassa, with all do respect, that is probably the most unhelpful answer given to the issue posted in this thread. We are asking about using the google photos site as well as, and most importantly, the app on our phones and tablets. Picassa which has barely had an update in several years does not provide a solution to what we are trying to accomplish as well as a feature that used to be present.

Hi Alex,

see it as a workaround.
You have to use Picasa Webalbums for a lot, because Google Photos has much less features.
Sorry toi say that, but it is like it is.

Whilst Martin said his Google drive folders used to appear as albums that's simply not true. Never been the case, with Google Photos or Google plus folders. It was and still is a feature of Picasa desktop app only

All that said, it's on my wish list for Google desktop uploader

Chris,

That is not true. When Google Photos was an integrated part of Google+. The syncing of photos from Drive were automatically grouped as albums based on the folders that the photos were a part of. I believe it was due to Google+ or Drive using the Picassa engine for it, just as geo.osm was saying, all my drive folders are albums in Picassa right now. Anyway, it's not worth debating as the functionality isn't currently there. But hopefully they will build it back in in the future.

This post is about adding photos to an album. I have a Mac and have a tool that puts google drive in my finder so that I can treat it like any other folder. The steps described above require that your files are your computer.
