You can use Google Photos to display albums in a slideshow on the ambient or idle screen of eligible devices. This includes:
- Smart TVs
- Tablets
- Fridges
- Select photo frames
- Google TV
- Android TV
- Chromecast
- Pixel Tablet
- Nest Hub
- Nest Hub Max
Tips:
- This feature isn’t available on all devices or in all countries and regions.
- Certain photos may not appear, based on their source or how they were captured. For example, some third-party app content and screenshots may be filtered.
Connect your device to your Google Account
During device setup or in the device settings, select Google Photos as the slideshow source.
- With your Android device, scan the on-screen QR code.
- Select your Google Account.
Tip: If you aren’t already signed in to at least one Google Account, you need to sign in.
- Enter the code displayed on your device.
- To allow the device access to your Google Account, tap Allow.
Pick albums to display on your device
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the top, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Tap Google Photos settings

- If you have a device set up, select the one you'd like to add photos to.
- If you don't have a device available, you need to set one up to display your photos. Learn how to connect your device to your Google Account.
- Next to the albums you want your device to display, tap Add
.
Tip: Photos may take a few hours before it’s removed from your device’s ambient display when you:
- Delete a photo
- Archive a photo
- Send a photo to Locked Folder
