How Google Pay keeps your money safe

Google Pay uses 2 distinct layers of protection:

1. You must use your device’s screen lock like PIN, fingerprint and more to view the app and account info.
2. You must enter your unique UPI PIN to authorize and complete each transaction.

If you receive suspicious calls

Stay alert if the caller claims to be from your bank or a store, but you don't recognize them. If they ask for personal info like your ID card, important papers, or your financial numbers (like your PIN or bank account), do not share details with them, no matter how convincing they sound. If anything seems strange or wrong, contact your bank immediately.

Helpful tips to make your Google Pay payments safe

	Keep your UPI PIN secret: Your UPI PIN is just like your ATM PIN. Never share it with anyone.
	Keep your Google Pay log-in OTP a secret. Do not share it with anyone.
	Only download trusted apps: Harmful apps like screen sharing apps can access personal information that you enter on your screen.
	Be cautious of sharing your UPI PIN on websites or forms sent to you via a link.
	You don't need to enter your UPI PIN to receive money: Entering your UPI PIN means you are paying someone. Pay attention to which direction your money is moving in.
	Only use your payment app to reach customer care: Find genuine support details in the Help/Support section of your Google Pay app. Avoid untrusted numbers which may be listed on the Internet.

What to do if you are a victim of a fraud transaction?

If you think someone stole your money from Google Pay:

• Report transaction to your bank
• Contact your local cyber crime police department

  • Use the form only to report fraudulent activity. If you have other issues with a payment, like the payment won’t go through, contact us.
• Tell us about a suspicious user:
  • Go to Google Pay .
  • Click the user’s profile.
  • At the top right, click More Report user.
• Look out for messages: We sometimes send you messages to make sure everything is okay. Pay attention to these messages, they can help keep you safe.
