Pay for Google products & services

Here’s where you can find info about paying for Google products and services. You can find info related to your purchases by signing in to pay.google.com.

Note: Paying for Google products and services is different from paying for things using the Google Pay app.

How to pay

Note: These steps can differ depending on the Google product or service that you’re trying to buy.

  1. Open the Google app that you plan to buy from.
  2. Find what you want to buy.
  3. Start to check out.
    • If it’s the first time that you’ve bought a Google product, you’ll be asked to create a payments profile. Find out more about payments profiles below.
  4. Finish your purchase.

What is a payments profile?

Your payments profile is usually created automatically the first time that you buy something from Google (such as digital content on Play or storage space through Google One).

Your Google payments profile stores information such as:

  • Name, address and tax ID (when required legally) of the person who is responsible for the profile
  • Credit cards, debit cards, bank accounts and other payment methods that you’ve used to buy through Google in the past
  • Receipts and other information about past transactions
  • Subscriptions and recurring payments
  • People that you invited to use your profile (Note: This feature no longer exists for individual accounts.)

To see your payments profile, sign in to pay.google.com.

Change a payments profile

You can edit a profile that you created or for which you are an admin.

  1. Sign in to Settings.
  2. If you have more than one profile:
    • In the top left, next to your name, click the Down arrow .
    • Choose the profile that you want to edit.
  3. Make your changes. You can change information such as your address, tax ID and payment methods.
  4. Save your changes.
Delete a payments profile

To remove a payments profile, you’ll need to close it.

If you close your Google payments profile, you won’t be able to buy things from Google Play or other Google products.

  1. Go to myaccount.google.com
  2. Under ‘Account Preferences’, click Delete your account or services.
  3. Click Delete products.
  4. Next to Google Pay, click Remove .
    • If you don’t see Google Pay listed, you’re ready.
  5. Confirm your choice.
Change your home address

Important: Once you’ve added a home address, you can’t change your home country. If you move to a new country, you’ll need to create a new profile. You can only create one profile per country.

  1. Sign in to Settings.
  2. In the 'Name and address' section, click Edit Edit.
  3. Enter your new address.
  4. Click Save

Change your home country

You can’t change a home country associated with an existing payments profile. If you have moved, are travelling or have temporary residence in another country, you need to create a new payments profile.

Creating a new profile won’t affect payments for existing services. You’ll need to use your new profile to pay for any new products or services that you purchase in your new country.

To create a new profile:

  1. Sign in to Settings.
  2. Under Payments profile, next to 'Country', click Edit Edit.
  3. Click the link to Create new profile from the message that appears.
  4. Click Continue.

Fix issues

If you're having problems paying for Google products or you're seeing one of these messages, you might need to fix a problem with your payments profile.

Find the issue that you're experiencing below.

'Your transaction cannot be completed'

If you're asked to provide additional information after seeing this message, follow the instructions. If not, try the following:

  1. Check whether the billing address for your payment method (such as a credit card) matches the address recorded in your Google Pay settings. If they don't match, update your address on pay.google.com and try the transaction again.
  2. If you're on an app, try to pay on the product's website instead. If you're on the website, try the app.
  3. If you’re buying on Google Play: click here for suggestions.
  4. If you’re using guest checkout on Google Store: sign in to your Google account. If you don’t have one, create one first.
'Unable to complete transaction: expired card'

Check to see if your payment method is up to date. If it isn’t, update it in Google Pay.

'Unable to complete transaction. Please use another form of payment.'

Note: These steps also apply if you’re seeing the error message 'Your payment didn't go through. Please try a different payment method or try again later.'

Try the following.

  1. Check to see if your payment method is up to date. If it isn’t, update it in Google Pay. Then try your purchase again.
  2. Make sure that you have enough money in your account for the purchase.
  3. If you're still having issues, contact your bank to see if there's a problem with your account.
  4. Try making the purchase again with a different payment method.
'Your payment was declined due to an issue with your account'

If you see this message, it might be because:

  • We saw a suspicious transaction on your payments profile.
  • We need a little more information to protect your account against fraud.

To fix the issue, try the following:

  1. Go to pay.google.com.
  2. Take action on any alerts or requests.
    • You might need to verify your identity before you can buy anything through your Google account.
  3. Make sure that your name, address and payment information are up to date.
'Unable to process payment: low card balance'

You might not have enough funds in your account to make the payment. Check your account balance or contact your bank.

Ineligible or greyed out card

If your card is greyed out or you see a message that your card is ineligible, you won't be able to use it for this type of purchase. Try making the purchase again with a different payment method.

If you can't see the payment method that you want to use, follow the instructions on the screen to add a new one.
