Featured product [featured_product] (Collections)

Use the featured product [featured_product] attribute to link the products from your product feeds to the collection in which you’d like to feature them.

When to use

Optional for each collection

The featured product [featured_product] attribute consists of two parts, the ID and the image coordinates, and a total of three sub-attributes:

  • ID [id]: Required for each featured product. This is the same as the value for the ID [id] attribute that was submitted in your product data feed.
  • X [x]: float [0-1]. Required for featured products linked to Shoppable Images. X is the horizontal coordinate of the product callout on the Shoppable Image, measured as the fraction of the width of the image from the top left corner of the image.
  • Y [y]: float [0-1]. Required for featured products linked to Shoppable Images. Y is the vertical coordinate of the product callout on the Shoppable Image, measured as the fraction of the height of the image from the top left corner of the image.

Follow these formatting guidelines to make sure Google understands the data you're submitting.

Minimum requirements

These are the requirements you'll need to meet to show your collection. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove your collection and let you know in the Diagnostics page of your Merchant Center account.

  • Make sure the ID you enter corresponds exactly to the ID of your product in your Merchant Center product data feed.
  • If you add this attribute, then the product country and language attributes are also required
  • These attributes are used to uniquely identify the featured product by matching to the country and language of the products you submitted.
  • Always specify product countries for collections that have featured products. This will allow us to determine the specific products associated with each collection.

Best practices

These best practices can help you go beyond the basic requirements to optimize your collection data for performance.

Shoppable Images

  • Use the X,Y coordinates to indicate the position of each product callout (white dot) on a Shoppable Image. X and Y are the fractional distance between 0 and 1 from the top-left corner of the image.
  • Be sure to include both the X and Y coordinates for each featured product on a Shoppable Image. The product callout allows customers to tap on each featured product in order to access the landing page for the product on your website.
  • Be sure your featured product has not been marked invalid for policy violations or for any other reason. If a product is invalid, we will not display its callout on the image.
  • Verify that your featured product is in stock. We will not show callouts for out of stock products.
  • Add up to 10 featured products. For each featured product, include the ID [id] attribute and the image coordinate X [x] and Y [y] attributes.

  • Make sure the featured products on your image are spaced out far enough from each other to prevent any overlapping of the product callouts on the image.
