MPN [mpn]

Use the MPN [mpn] attribute to submit your product’s Manufacturer Part Number (MPN). MPNs are used to uniquely identify a specific product among all products from the same manufacturer. Shoppers might search specifically for an MPN, so providing this attribute can help them find your listing.

When to use

RequiredRequired for all products without a manufacturer-assigned GTIN. Learn about the GTIN [gtin] attribute

If the product doesn’t have a clearly associated MPN or is a custom-made product (for example, art, custom t-shirts, novelty products, and handmade products), the attribute is optional.

Only provide an MPN if you’re sure it’s correct. When in doubt do not provide an MPN (for example, do not guess or make up a value).

Minimum requirements

These are the requirements you'll need to meet to show your product. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove your product and let you know in your Merchant Center account.

  • Submit any other relevant unique product identifiers. You might be required to submit the brand [brand] and GTIN [gtin] attributes. When you submit product identifiers, we can better understand what you're selling. When we understand what you're selling, we can make your ads and unpaid listings richer and help connect users to your products. Learn more about product identifier attributes
  • Use the MPN assigned by the manufacturer. Unless you’re the manufacturer, don’t use a value that you’ve created.
  • Distinguish between variants.
    • Use the correct MPN for each product. Typically, each variant of a product (different colors or sizes) has its own MPN, so make sure to submit the correct value. A key exception is different sizes of apparel products, where all sizes often have the same MPN.

Additional guidelines

Review each section closely to determine if the requirements apply to your country or product. If you don't follow requirements that apply to you, we'll disapprove your product and let you know in Diagnostics in your Merchant Center account.
