Moving forward it will only be possible to have feeds targeting a single feed label and language. You will not be able to add a feed label and language to an existing feed. These changes won’t affect how your products are uploaded to Merchant Center or how they’re shown on Google, and no action is required from you.
A “feed label” is a container in which products can be grouped.
Existing feeds targeting multiple feed labels and languages will be migrated so that it targets only one feed label and language. This involves splitting feeds into multiple feeds. Supplemental feeds that are not used in any primary feeds will be permanently deleted.
If your account is affected, the “Diagnostics” tab, “Product list” tab, and the feed selection filter will report information for your new feeds. If you use the feed selection filter in the "Diagnostics" tab, it will only show data from the date the change took place.
During the migration, while the feeds are being split, the offer counts in the feeds list page might be incorrect. If you're used to uploading product files manually to a feed targeting multiple feed labels and languages, you will need to upload the same file to each individual split feed manually instead.
Changes specific to automated feeds
If you’re using automated feeds (“Website” feeds) in Merchant Center and those feeds are targeting multiple locales, we’ll merge the settings for different locales into a single configuration for all locales. As a result, your feed may be impacted in the following ways:
- If you’re using non-default rules for certain locales, we will keep only the non-default rule of one of the locales. This will be picked randomly. Default rules will be merged. You can make sure there is no impact on your feed by using the same rules for all the automated feeds’ locales.
- If you have added additional target countries to certain locales, those additional target countries will apply to all the products in your automated feed, regardless of the locale.
- All products found on your website will be added using the automated feed. If the locales in your “Website” feed don’t include all the locales detected on your website, additional products may be added.
This may impact your products and how they are shown on Google.
June 2024 update:
Changes specific to incremental feeds
If you are using incremental feed uploads and haven’t converted it to a primary feed, you may see a new primary feed named “Products source”. This feed can be used to update products you uploaded individually via the Products list. For more information, you can learn more about Incremental Feeds Deprecation.
