How to fix: Unwanted Software

We want to ensure customers have a safe and positive shopping experience. Any software that your site, links, or app hosts should be made with consent, not be bundled, and an accurate representation of expected content.

Instructions

Step 1: Understand and fix the issue

  • Make sure your ads, listings, and destinations do not lead to sites or app hosts with software that do the following:
    • Is deceptive, promising a value proposition that it does not meet.
    • It tries to trick customers into installing it or it piggybacks on the installation of another program.
    • It doesn’t tell the customers about all of its principal and significant functions.
    • It affects the customer’s system in unexpected ways.
    • It is difficult to remove.
    • It collects or transmits private information without the customer’s knowledge.
    • It is bundled with other software and its presence is not disclosed.
  • Check your website for recent changes and malware.
  • Check Search Console to see if your website is secure

Step 2: Request a review

After you've checked your sites safety, request an account review:

  1. Sign in to your Merchant Center account.
  2. Navigate to Account issues on the “Diagnostics” page.
  3. Locate the account-level issue that you would like to have reviewed.
  4. Make sure that there are in-stock products uploaded and all issues for the affected target country are resolved.
  5. Click Request review.
  6. Read the pop-up window to ensure that you understand the review process, and its requirements and limitations.
  7. Check the box and click Request review.
Note: Review requests can take up to 5 days to complete. You’ll receive an email notification once the review has been completed.

After the review is performed, if your account meets the product data requirements, your account will be reactivated.
