Product Studio

A custom icon for Merchant Center Next articles

Product Studio is a suite of free, AI-powered tools that helps you save time and resources while helping enhance and create high-quality product images. The tools can help you generate scenes, increase image resolution and edit backgrounds. Your new images can help you attract more customers when you scale them across your marketing channels.

Product Studio is free and helps reduce the time, resources and budget needed for product shoots and post production edits.

To use Product Studio, you must accept these Terms of Service.

Note: Product Studio is only available for merchants in the US, UK, CA, and AU and is only available for English prompts. We continue to make the product better by improving the user experience, output quality, feature set, and more. As this feature is still experimental, it may generate unexpected images and works best with certain products (for example, consumer packaged goods with products front and center). It currently doesn’t work well with human models, hands, walled art, and light fixtures. It also doesn’t support image creation for regulated goods such as alcohol, drugs, pharmaceuticals, gambling-related products, weapons, tobacco, fireworks, and health and medical devices. What to expect

With Google’s AI Principlesin mind, Product Studio brings you the benefits of generative AI, helping you easily create unique and tailored product imagery for free and get more value from the images you already have. This can help reduce the time and cost of hiring a photographer or renting a studio so you can spend more time growing your business. With more images and enhanced content, your listings may perform better and generate a higher return on investment.

The services may sometimes provide inaccurate or offensive content that doesn’t represent Google’s views.

Note: When you use Product Studio, data such as descriptions, generated images, and times of generation will be stored on the device that you’re using. So if you’re using a shared device, others may be able to access this information. You can clear the data at any time in the View history tab of Product Studio.

Best practices

Use these best practices to help you choose the best product images and write descriptive prompts to optimize your product data and drive results for your business using Product Studio.

Selecting the right product image

  • Product Studio works best when you choose one main product image. Select a starting image that only has one main product. Product Studio doesn’t work well if it can’t easily identify the main product in the starting image.

This image represents the Product Studio best practice of choosing only one main product image. Product Studio isn't as effective at identifying your main product in your starting image if multiple products are present.

  • Place the product at the center of the image and leave most of the canvas white. If the main product is taking a large portion of the image (such as, very close or touching the edge of the image), use the “reduce” button to make the product smaller. The product should be centered and leave most of the canvas white.

  • Don’t use images that contain humans using your products. Product Studio doesn't work well with human models at this moment. Use an input image that doesn't show the product on a person.
Do Green check Don't No
This image represents the Product Studio best practice of not including any humans or animals in your main product image. Product Studio is not as effective with human models or pets at this moment.

  • Don’t select product images that involve hands or other props to showcase main products. Use an image that doesn’t have hands or other props.

Writing a good scene description

When describing your scene, consider the following and provide these details within your description to get the best results:
  • The style of image. For example, product photography, illustration, macro photography, etc.
  • The type of product you are adding to the scene. For example, a bottle of cologne.
  • The placement of the product. For example, on a stone platform.
  • The scene around the product. For example, surrounded by white and yellow flower petals.
  • The background. For example, large tropical leaves and foliage in the background.
