Contribute to Google Maps and earn points

When you sign up to be a Local Guide, you can contribute content to Google Maps and get points if it’s published. Collect points to increase your level and get Local Guide benefits.

How to get points

You can get points from many types of published content:

• Review and rate a place.
• Add photos to a place.
• Answer questions about a place.
• Edit a place's information or Edit a road on the map.
• Add a missing place.
• Check facts about places nearby.
• Respond to Q&As.
• Add and explore dishes.
• Add to Google Maps and earn badges.

Tip: As a Local Guide, you can move up in levels when you earn more points.

Check your points breakdown

View your contributions

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute .
3. Tap your name.
4. Tap the arrow to open up the breakdown.
5. Your points will show up in your profile.

Tip: When you make a contribution, it will take up to 24 hours for your points to appear on your profile.

Find content to contribute

You can find a list of things that you can contribute to Google Maps. These might include:

• Places to review.
• Photos to add.
• Questions to answer about a place.
• Places that have missing information, such as opening hours or phone numbers.
• Places with information that must be verified, such as opening hours or closures.

To contribute to Google Maps:

1. On your phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute   Contribute now.

Tip: Only Level 2 and above Local Guides can ask and answer questions about a city. City questions and answers aren't available in all countries or regions. Suggested places come from Location history and Search history.
