How to claim and verify a Google Business Profile Linked with your Local Services Ads account

To participate in Local Services Ads, all businesses must pass Google’s screening and verification process. The process varies by business category and location and may include background, business registration, insurance, and license checks, and minimum review requirements. More details about the verification process for Google Business Profiles can be found here.

About Google Business Affiliation check (EMEA only)

Depending on your location, if your business entity has matching information with a business on Google Maps, you may be required to verify your business’ Google Maps profile before you can advertise with Local Services Ads. Once you have verified your business’ profile, you can add or manage how your business information shows up across Google. Learn more about How to verify your business on Google.

Note: Starting July 8, 2024, all Local Services Ads must have an affiliated public Google Business Profile to run Local Services Ads.

Verify your Local Services Ads account

When you verify your business, check that your info is correct and that you’re the only one who can edit it.

  1. Add or claim your Business Profile on Google.
  2. When you add or claim your profile, you can verify it through phone, text, email, or video.
    • You may need to verify with more than one method.
    • Available methods depend on things like business category, public info, region, support hours, and volumes.
  3. Pick a type of verification. Learn more about How to verify by your selected method.
  4. Often, we need to review verifications. These reviews help maintain the integrity of all profiles. They can take up to seven business days.
    • When you’re verified, you get a notification.
    • If we can’t verify your business with the first method, the “Get verified” button shows up again. If this happens, try a different verification method.
  5. After you verify:
    • It can take a few weeks for your updated business info to show across Google.
    • You can update and add to your info at any time. Learn how to edit your profile.
    • You can connect with your customers through your profile. Learn about posts, reviews, and messaging.
Note: If your account is matched to an existing business on maps you will need to verify your Google Business Profile in order to continue serving Local Services Ads. This is applicable for providers in select countries in EMEA.
