Cancel your Google One membership

You can cancel your Google One membership plan at any time. You can also change, upgrade or downgrade your plan.

What happens when you cancel Google One

  • You'll stop future Google One payments.
  • You and your family members will lose access to extra member benefits and Google experts via the Google One app and website.
  • You and your family members will lose access to your additional storage. Each person will keep their default 15 GB of storage at no charge.

If you cancel while you're using more than 15 GB of storage, you'll notice some restrictions. For example:

  • Gmail: You can't send or receive messages. Messages sent to you are returned to the sender.
  • Google Drive:
    • You can't sync or upload new files.
    • Syncs stop between your computer's Google Drive folder and My Drive.
    • You can't create new files in:
      • Google Docs
      • Sheets
      • Slides
      • Drawings
      • Forms
      • Jamboard
    • Until you reduce the amount of storage that you are using, no one can edit or copy your files.
  • Google Photos: You can't back up any photos or videos. If you want to add more photos and videos, you can clean up your Google storage space or buy more Google storage.

How soon your membership ends

When you cancel your membership, your Google One storage and benefits won't go away immediately. You will have until the end of the billing cycle to use them. At that time, you will lose all your benefits.

  • For Metro by T-Mobile customers (US only): If your membership is sponsored by Metro by T-Mobile, it will end as soon as you cancel and you’ll lose all your benefits.

If you sign up through the App Store

If you sign up for Google One through the App Store on an iPhone or iPad and later switch to an Android device: you can't adjust your membership or change your payment method in the app. To update your account and other info, use the App Store on another device.

If you don't want to cancel your membership, you can decrease the storage instead.

Refund policy

Google storage plan purchases are non-refundable. The amount of storage that you have purchased is yours for the length of the subscription, even if you decide to cancel it. In some countries/regions, you can end your subscription immediately and receive a partial refund.

For Play Store purchases, go to YouTube Premium and Music Premium refunds.

For Apple App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple support.

Cancel your Google One plan if you've switched to a new service

If you already have a Google One plan and purchased a new plan from another company, you may need to complete a few steps before activating your new plan. This includes deleting your Google One plan from your Google Account. If you delete your plan, you will keep everything stored in Google Photos, Drive and Gmail. You will only delete data about your Google One plan, like settings and support chats.
