You can follow your child’s progress and view their activity in the Google Health app when you have created a family on Google, set them up with the Google Family link app, add their profile to your Google Health app, and they use a Fitbit Ace or a mobile device like a phone.
For assistance with Fitbit Ace LTE, go to support.google.com/fitbitacelte.
Before you begin
Make sure you have created a family on Google and set up the Google Family link app. You’ll need to be a Family Manager to add, view, and manage your child’s profile.

- Open the Google Health app
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial
Friends and Family.
- Under “Follow your child’s progress”, tap Add child.
- To create a new child account, tap More

- Select your child.
- Then follow in the in-app instructions.
View your child’s stats in the Google Health app
Parents who are a family manager can view their child’s stats, like step count, active minutes, and sleep duration in a simplified app experience. They can also log activity and set goals for their child.
To switch from parent view to child view:
On Android
- Open the Google Health app
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial
Friends and Family.
- Scroll to “Children”, then find your child.
- Tap Switch.
On iOS
- Open the Google Health app
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial
Switch account.
- To switch, find and tap your child’s account.
You can manage your child's data by signing into their Google Account and going to their Profile Your data in Google Health. If you need to reset your child's password, go to Manage your child's Google Account with Family Link.
To return to your Google Health account:
- On Android: At the top of your child’s Today screen, tap your child’s name.
- On iOS: At the top right, tap the Profile picture or Initial

To set up an Ace device, you must use a child account. If you previously set up a Fitbit device for your child with an adult’s date of birth, your child will find an error message after updating their birthdate. To regain access to their Google Health account, either create a new Google account for your child or delete the Google Health service from their Google account, wait 90 days, and then re-register.
To update your child's birthday:
- Sign in to your child’s Google account.
- In a browser window, sign in to your Google Account.
- Tap Personal Info
Birthday.
- Update the birthday, then tap Save.
You must be a Google family manager to add children to your family in Google Health. To create a new child account, tap More
Add a child account. Then, follow the in-app instructions.
At this time, family managers can only add children to Google Health, not other parents or family members, even if they are part of the same Google family group. As the family manager, you can invite up to 5 people to join your Google family group. For more information, go to Manage your Family on Google.
When a child is about to turn 13 (or the applicable age in their country), the child and their family manager will receive an email to upgrade their account. For more information, go to Age requirements on Google and How Google Accounts work when children turn 13.
If they upgrade their account, your child gains standard access to apps that use a Google account. For the Google Health app, this includes most features in the app, including weight measurements, estimated calories burned, and menstrual health tracking. Upon upgrading, the parent will no longer have a child view.
Note that even though your child’s account can support more stats and more advanced metrics, Fitbit Ace devices will continue to only track the same metrics supported for children. Google Health Premium and the Google Health Coach are not available for children under the age of 18.
Your child must take control of their standard Google Account, then take control of their Google Health account in the Google Health app. Have your child complete these steps:
- Open the email message in their inbox with the subject line "Ready to take charge of your Google Account?"
- Follow the instructions in the email message to take control of their Google account. For more information, go to How Google Accounts work when children turn 13 (or the applicable age in your country).
- Open the Google Health app
, then tap Upgrade.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
With a computer
- Sign in to your child’s Google account.
- Click the Data & privacy tab, scroll down and tap Remove data from services you no longer use.
- You’ll need to sign in to their account again to delete a Google service.
- To delete your child’s information from Google Health, choose Google Health and follow the on-screen instructions then tap Delete Google Health service.
With the Google Health app
- Open the Google Health app
.

- Tap Switch account and sign in to your child’s account.
- From your child’s profile, tap Your data in Google Health.
