How to access, add, or remove assets from the asset library

The asset library is an account level feature in Google Ads that allows you to access all your assets, which are required to create an ad, in one place. This article explains how you can access the asset library and add or remove assets from the asset library.

Note: The instructions below are part of the new design for the Google Ads user experience. To use the previous design, click the "Appearance" icon, and select Use previous design. If you're using the previous version of Google Ads, review the Quick reference map or use the Search bar in the top navigation panel of Google Ads to find the page you’re searching for.

  8. Click Save.
  9. You can refer to a preview of your final image asset on the right side of your screen. If you want to make changes, click the pencil icon beside the images.
    • Note: Your ad might not always include all of your text. Shortening may occur in some formats.
  10. Click Save.

How to remove assets from the asset library

You can remove any assets you've uploaded to the asset library by following the steps below:

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Tools icon Tools Icon.
  2. Click the Shared library drop down in the section menu.
  3. Click Asset library.
  4. Select the assets you want to remove, then click Remove.
Notes:
  • After you remove assets, you’ll have the immediate option to undo. After that, the assets are unrecoverable, and you’ll have to re-upload them, if necessary.
  • You’ll no longer be able to view cropped versions of the assets you remove.
  • Assets you remove from the asset library may still show in the following places:
    • Assigned to an ad that is still serving. You’ll need to remove the assets from the assigned ad to stop it from serving.
    • Reporting, especially if the removed assets were assigned to an ad that was serving.
    • Google Ads API (removed assets will be hidden in Google Ads Editor, unless they’re assigned to an ad).
  • To permanently remove any assets you’ve uploaded, contact support. After assets are permanently removed, they can’t be recovered.
  • If you uploaded videos to a Google-owned private channel for video ad hosting, you can remove these videos using the instructions above. However, if you uploaded videos to your brand channel, these videos can only be removed by signing into that YouTube channel. Learn more about Replacing or deleting your video.
