Changes to Standard Shopping campaigns

Currently, Standard Shopping campaigns that are opted into YouTube, Gmail, and Discover are featured alongside products from multiple advertisers. We are updating our inventory to only show products from a single advertiser to help brands stand out more with shoppers. As part of this change, Standard Shopping campaigns (not Smart Shopping campaigns) will no longer show on Gmail, Discover, and some YouTube placements as of November 15, 2021.

What does this mean for your campaign?

Traffic from YouTube, Gmail, and Discover are reported as the “Google Display Network” when segmented by Network type. Without any action from you, you may see a decrease in traffic coming in from the Google Display Network starting November 15, 2021. Note that some of your overall campaign traffic may shift to other available inventories.

Next steps

If you’d like to continue showing on YouTube and Gmail, upgrade to Smart Shopping campaigns by November 15, 2021. After this date, Standard Shopping campaigns will no longer run on Gmail and some YouTube placements.

With Smart Shopping campaigns, you can maximize your conversion value within your budget at or above your ROAS target, meaning that these campaigns are more efficient with your spend. Advertisers who have utilized Smart Shopping campaigns have seen an increase in conversion value at a similar cost by more than 30% compared to Standard Shopping campaigns.
