Metrics for consent messages

Consent estimated earnings

Estimated earnings attributable to the Funding Choices consent message. 

Personalized ads revenue x [1 - (average non-personalized ads revenue) / (average personalized ads revenue)]

This metric accounts for the difference in revenue between serving personalized ads instead of non-personalized ads to users who chose the consent option in the Funding Choices message.

Estimated earnings:

  • Include ads served via Google Publisher Tags (GPT) only. These tags are the primary source of Ad Manager traffic.
  • Include both reservation and programmatic ads, and tend to be more accurate for programmatic ads. Calculations for reservation ads use the "Cost" entered when setting up the line item in Ad Manager, and may vary accordingly.
  • Do not take into account ads served by adsbygoogle, typically used by AdSense publishers.
  • Calculate averages on a daily basis, which are summed over the time period of the report.
  • Are displayed as zero (0) if the result of the metric calculation is negative.
  • Are based on data collection that began on September 13, 2019.
An example

Let’s assume you choose a single day as the time period for this report, and

  • Your site’s Consent estimated impressions (the number of ad impressions served to users who chose the consent option) is 1,000 on that day.
  • Your site’s average CPM for non-personalized ads during this day is $3.00. 
  • Your site’s average CPM for personalized ads on this day is $6.00.

Then, Consent estimated earnings = 6,000 x (1- 3,000/6,000) = $3,000.
