Manage Microsoft Advertising sitelinks

Apply or remove Microsoft Advertising sitelinks

Periodically you may need to change the sitelink extension you've applied to campaigns and ad groups if your sitelinks are seasonal or based on specific holidays.

Search Ads 360 provides a few options for applying and removing sitelink extensions from campaigns and ad groups:

You can't remove a sitelink extension from a Microsoft Advertising account in Search Ads 360. You can sign into Microsoft Advertising and remove the sitelink extension.
  • Apply or remove a sitelink from multiple campaigns and ad groups.
  • Navigate to a specific campaign or ad group and manage its sitelink extensions.
If you apply a sitelink extension to a campaign, the campaign's ad groups display the sitelink extension by default. You can override inheritance by specifying a different sitelink extension to the ad group.
  • Update campaigns or ad groups with automated rules or bulk edits

If a campaign inherits sitelinks, or if sitelinks are directly applied to a campaign, it isn't possible to prevent specific ad groups within the campaign from displaying sitelinks. Instead, you can override inheritance so that the ad group displays different sitelinks than the campaign.

You can apply up to 20 sitelinks to your campaigns and ad groups. Microsoft Advertising determines when to show two, four, or six sitelinks within an ad based on device, relevance, and the order in which you create the sitelink extensions.

See if extensions are already directly applied

To see if extensions are already directly applied to campaigns or ad groups:

  1. Navigate to a Microsoft Advertising engine account.

Steps for navigating to an engine account
    1. In the left navigation panel, click All accounts.
What if the left navigation pane isn't visible?

    2. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    3. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    4. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser that contains the engine account.

    5. In the "Account" list, click on the engine account.

    6. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the engine account page.

  2. Click the Campaigns or Ad groups tab.
  3. Add the Sitelink extensions column to the reporting table.
  4. View the row for a campaign or ad group. If a sitelink has been applied directly to a campaign or ad group, the Sitelink extensions column contains number sitelinks, for example 5 sitelinks. Otherwise, the column contains -- (dashes).

Note that if an ad group is inheriting sitelinks from the campaign, the Sitelink extensions column for the ad group contains -- (dashes). In an ad group row, "number sitelinks" appears only if an extension has been applied directly to the ad group (and therefore the ad group is overriding the campaign setting).
  5. Optionally sort the table by the Sitelink extensions column to see which campaigns or ad groups have sitelinks directly applied. To sort, click the heading of the Sitelink extensions column.
