Use bulksheets to create, manage, and apply labels

You can use bulksheets to do any of the following:

  • Create labels
  • Change and delete labels
  • Apply and remove labels for DS objects

Create labels

  1. Download the Label upload template.
  2. Open the template and enter information in each column as follows:
    • Row type: enter Label.
    • Action: enter Create.
    • Label: enter the new label you want to add.
    • Label ID: leave it blank. DS will generate an ID when you upload the spreadsheet.
  3. Upload the spreadsheet to DS.

Change and delete labels

  1. Download a report of existing labels:
    1. Navigate to an advertiser. Then click Labels in the left nav.
    2. Click ▸Download, which appears above the reporting table.
  2. Open the spreadsheet and create, change, or delete a label as described below.
  3. Upload the spreadsheet to DS.

Change an existing label

  1. In the Action column, change the value to Edit.
  2. You can change the value in the Status column to Paused, or Resume if the label is already paused.
  3. You can change the value in the Label column. All DS objects that are assigned this label will be updated.
  4. Leave the other columns unchanged. For example, don’t change the value in the Label ID column.

Delete a label

In the Action column, change the value to Deactivate.
Leave the other columns unchanged. For example, don’t change the value in the Label ID column.

Apply and remove labels for DS objects

You can use a bulksheet to apply labels to an object (campaign, ad group, ad, keyword, or product target) and remove labels from an object.

  1. Download a report that contains the objects you want to label.
For example, download a keyword report.
  2. Open the spreadsheetand apply or remove labels as described below.
  3. Upload the spreadsheet to DS.

Apply a label to an object

In the row for the object, enter the label name in the Label column. When you upload the file, DoubleClick Search (DS) will apply the label to the object.

If the name you enter is not an existing label, DS will automatically create the label.

Apply a label to a new object

In the row for the new object, enter the label name in the Label column. When you upload the file, DS will create the new object and apply the label to it.

Apply multiple labels to an object

Enter the label names, separated by | (bars), in the Label column. When you upload the file, DS will apply all of the labels to the object.

Apply additional labels to an object

If an object already has labels and you want to add more, you'll need to include the original labels in the Label column. For example, the keyword chicago flights has the label air travel midwest applied to it. To add flights as a label but also keep the existing label, enter flights|air travel midwest in the Label column.

Remove labels from an object

To remove all labels that are applied to an object, enter delete_content in the Label column.
