Usage statistics and crash reports

Help us prioritize the features and improvements we should work on by turning on the setting for Google Drive to send Google usage statistics and crash reports. These are files that are created when an error happens or when Google Drive unexpectedly crashes. Usage statistics contain aggregated information such as preferences, button clicks, and memory usage. Crash reports contain system information at the time of the error or crash. Crash reports may contain file or folder names, depending on what was happening at the time of the error or crash.

Send crash reports on Mac

To send crash reports to Google, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Google Drive menu on your computer.
  2. Click on the Settings menu.
  3. Choose Preferences.
  4. Select Advanced.
  5. Check the box next to "Send crash reports to Google."
  6. Click Apply changes.

To turn off crash reporting, follow the steps above but uncheck the box next to "Send crash reports to Google."

Send crash reports on PC

When you're installing Google Drive for your PC, select the option to "Send crash reports to Google." It's not possible to change this setting after the install process.
