We're aware of an emerging issue impacting Chromecast 2nd gen and Chromecast Audio devices and are working on a fix. Do not factory reset your device - we will keep you all updated when the fix rolls out. If you have already factory reset your device, we will provide instructions to set your device back up as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Set up a replacement Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer Voice Remote

Note: For the best experience, we recommend that you use the remote included with your device. Some features like Find My Remote and creating a shortcut with the customizable button only work with Google TV Streamer.

You can set up a replacement Voice Remote for a Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer that has already been set up.

  1. Turn on your Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer.
  2. On the back of your Google streaming device, press the button for 5-10 seconds to start Pairing Mode.
  3. Insert 2 AAA batteries in your new Voice Remote.

In most cases, your remote will pair automatically after you insert the batteries. If it doesn’t, follow the steps on the TV screen, or press and hold the Back and Home buttons on the remote for 3 seconds.

Set up volume, power and input control on your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer Voice Remote.
