Legacy G Suite Basic and Business subscriptions are transitioning to Google Workspace subscriptions. You can transition your customers now. Or starting January 31, 2022, Google will automatically transition your customers once they are eligible.

New view of products in the Customers list

In the Customers list, the Products columns shows a customer's products (active or suspended) by product icons. The icons represent all editions of a product, for example, Google Workspace Enterprise and Google Workspace.

Note: The order of the Subscriptions status doesn't correlate to the order of the Products. In the example below, the first line shows the subscriptions as 1 Active 1 Suspended". You would view the customer acccount to check wherher the Google Workspace or Cloud Identity subscription was suspended.

Transitioning G Suite subscriptions 

  •  G Suite Basic and G Suite Business subscriptions must have 300 or fewer licenses to transition to a Google Workspace Business edition subscription.
  • Transitioning to Enterprise Essentials, Essentials, or Frontline editions is not available for G Suite Basic or G Suite Business.

Customer Care Portal for Google Workspace

Manage support cases for your Google Workspace customers or your own reseller account in the Customer Care Portal. The portal replaces the Google Cloud Support Center for Google Workspace customers.

If your team members had access to the Google Cloud Support Center, they likely have access to the Customer Care Portal. Super admins can sign in to the Customer Care Portal to review users who don’t have access and grant permissions.

To manage support cases for your Google Cloud Platform and Google Maps customers, continue to use the Google Cloud Support Center.

The Channel Services console is now the Partner Sales Console. As the home for our resellers, the console is designed to deliver a consistent, productive, and unified experience for Google Workspace, Google Cloud Platform, and Google Maps resale. Learn more about the name change.

  • Your organization uses the same credentials to sign in to the Partner Sales Console.
  • The URL to the console remains the same for now.
  • The new name will roll out over the next couple of days.

Google Workspace Essentials, team customers (email verified)

New features and updates for the Essentials or Enterprise Essentials team customers.

  • You can transfer Essentials or Enterprise Essentials team (email-verified) customers to your reseller account. In the Transfer customer to your account section, click Transfer with Cloud Identity ID and enter the customer's Cloud Identity ID. Tip: Share the steps to "find your Cloud Identity ID" with customers.

  • If you have multiple Google Essentials team customers that use same domain and display name, the console shows the unique Cloud Identity ID for those accounts.

  • When a team customer verifies their domain, they assume administrative control only for their Essentials account and users. There's no change to other Essentials team accounts that use the same domain name. Each Essentials team verifies their domain to unlock additional features.

What's new

Options for sorting and viewing customers: On the Customers page, click Create time to sort customers by the date you created their account (based on GMT timezone).

In the upper left, click Customize Icon for customizing the columns listed on the Customer page and select the column to display.  For example, if you resell only Google Cloud Platform, you might hide the Renewal date column. To change the order of the columns, drag a column up or down.

Google Workspace customers: In the Admin console, a customer can select one of their subscriptions (for example, Cloud Identity) and contact you for support. Now, you can customize the text that appears below "A note from your reseller".

What's new

  • Reseller admins: ​You can assign the Reseller Admin and GCP Reseller Admin roles and permissions to users in a secondary domain of your reseller Cloud Identity or Google Workspace account.
  • Customer transfers: Customers now transfer to your reseller account with all of their Cloud Identity free edition licenses. Previously, number of licenses was limited to maximum of 50.

A customer might have mutiple accounts that use the same domain name. When you assign a billing subaccount to such a customer, the suggested matches include the Cloud Identity ID to help you identify an account.

Google Workspace transfers

You can now transfer Google Workspace Essentials team customers (no verified domain) to your reseller account. For Google Workspace transfers, enter the customer's domain name or their Cloud Identity ID. Tip: Share the steps to "find your Cloud Identity ID" with customers.

The Customer Profile page shows an alert if the customer's domain doesn't match their primary domain in the Admin console. 

On the customer's Customer information page, click Sync with Admin console to copy the domain name from the customer's Admin console to the Domain field.

What's new in Google Cloud Platform

Assigning customers to their billing subaccounts in bulk: The TSV file requires only a customer's organization name, domain, and address. A customer's contact information (name, email addresses, and phone number) is now optional. 

Fixed issues

  • Cloud Identity transfers: Administrators received an error when accepting the Cloud Identity product schedule for a customer transfer. The issue is fixed and resellers can complete transfers of customers with Cloud Identity.
  • Customers list: In some cases, the Customers page did not display the complete list of customers.
  • Minor bug fixes and usability updates.

What's new in Google Workspace

Setting a customer's alternate email address

The Customer Profile page now shows an alert if the customer's alternate email address doesn't match the customer's secondary email address in the Admin console.

 

Click Sync with Admin console to copy the email address from the customer's Admin console to the Alternate email field. The email address might take up to 15 minutes to update in the Partner Sales Console.

Note: The email address in the Admin console is not automatically synced to the Partner Sales Console. 

Choosing Domain or Team customer

When you create a customer account, you choose Domain customer or Team customer in Organization information. 


Choose Team customer only if you're ordering Google Essentials or Google Enterprise Essentials and the customer will verify their account by email address (not by domain). Customers with email-verified accounts cannot purchase other Google Workspace services until they verify the domain.

  • Track licensing activity: Select a customer's account and next to Google Workspace Licensing, select a date range:

     


    In the License Activity chart, click a product to hide or show license activity. Or click along the timeline to view license numbers on a specific date.

Fixed issues

  • Link to customer's Admin console. If you had multiple accounts open, and you clicked a customer's Quick links > Admin console, you might be prompted to sign in. Now the link opens the Admin console as expected.

What's new

Autocomplete search on the Customers page: In the search box, enter the first few letters of a customer's name or domain for a list of autocomplete suggestions:

When you search from a customer's account page, the search box looks for your exact terms within customer names and domain names.

Google Cloud Platform

  • Cancel a Google Cloud Platform subscription (close a billing subaccount)
    Select a customer's Google Cloud Platform subscription and change the status from Active to Canceled. This closes the billing subaccount associated with the subscription.

    The subscription is removed from the Partner Sales Console, and the billing subaccount’s status is set to Closed in the Cloud Console. Learn more

What's new

  • Orders for new customers: To place an order for a new customer, click Create Customer and choose a product family—Google Workspace or Google Cloud Platform. For example, select Google Workspace to order Google Workspace, Cloud Identity, and other subscriptions managed in the Google Admin console.

    Customer account information is now tailored the product family. For example, for a Google Cloud Platform customer, you no longer need to enter an administrator email address.

 

  • Orders for G Suite Enterprise for Education: Below Organization information, check the Educational institution box. Add account information for education customers, including the size of the institution.
  • Order for Google Essentials: To order Google Essentials for team of users (requires only a verified business email address), check the Team customer box. Then, the console shows only the compatible subscriptions that don't require domain verification, such as Google Cloud Platform. When the customer verifies their domain, the Team customer option is automatically removed. Learn more about email-verified and domain-verified accounts.

We introduced a new brand, product experience, and set of offerings to better equip our customers for the future of work. As part of these changes, G Suite is now Google Workspace.

The new name and logo appear in the Partner Sales Console, Google Admin console, online help, and email notifications. For background about the change, check the blog post.

  • Customer orders: The console shows the pricing details for orders with tiered terms (such as pricing based on number of users). An asterisk * points to the term pricing and a link to the payment plan, for example: "Displayed cost is for the first 10 users. See payment plan for more information."

  • Auto-renewal settings for annual plans: In some cases, the title of the autorenewal options didn't specify whether the number of licenses would remain the same or increase.

Fixed issues

  • Privileges to end customer relationship: Reseller admins with the Transfer Customer privilege can now select "End Relationship" for a customer's account.
  • Customer filters: To save a filter, you must enter a name (prevents adding filters with no name).
  • Orders: Fixed—If you started an order for G Suite for Edu or G Suite Essentials, then clicked back in the browser and changed the SKU, the order information didn't update.

Turn on or off automatic licensing from the Channel Services Console:

  1. Select the customer's subscription.

Fixed issues

    Note: Changing contact information in the Partner Sales Console, such updating an alternate address, doesn't change the customer's contact information in their Admin console.

  • Orders: When you order Drive Storage, you can set the purchase cap for each storage tier. Previously, you couldn't set purchase caps until a customer accepted the Terms of Services
  • Filters: After you save a filter, the Save Filters button doesn't remain selected.
  • Customer transfers: After transferring a customer to your account, the confirmation panel incorrectly stated the customer will receive an email about the transfer. No emails are automatically sent to the customer.

  • Search feature available for all accounts: Easily search and switch between customer accounts. When you're on a customer's account page, click the customer's name and enter another customer name or domain.

  • Subscriptions on a Flexible Plan show both the customer's assigned licenses and license cap.

Customers

  • New: Easily search and switch between customer accounts. When you're on a customer's account page, click the Down arrow "" and enter another customer name or domain. This feature is rolling out over the next few weeks. If the search doesn't appear in your console now, it should be available soon.
  • Fixed: In a few instances, a customer's email and contact information appeared blank and couldn't be edited in the console.

Settings

  • The option to "End Reseller Relationship" is no longer shown to admins who don't have the Customers or Transfer Customers admin privileges.

Subscriptions

  • You can suspend a customer's subscription before they accept the Terms of Service. The subscription status remains "Suspended", but the reason is "Subscription has been manually suspended". Later, when you change the subscription status to Active, you're prompted to confirm the activation. If the customer hasn't accepted the Terms of Service, the status automatically switches to Suspended with the reason, "Subscription is suspended until your customer accepts the new Terms of Service".
  • If a customer started their Annual paid service before the free trial ended, the console showed the renewal date as 1 year from end of trial. Now, the annual renewal date is shown as 1 year from the start of paid service.
  • In some instances, if a customer had multiple add-on subscriptions (such as Google Vault and Drive Storage), you couldn't end your reseller relationship.
  • You can now cancel add-on subscriptions (Drive Storage, Vault, Archived User, Vault Former Employee) that are currently active or were suspended during the trial period.
  • Fixed: If a customer had multiple Drive Storage subscriptions, changing the status of one subscription sometimes applied to all Drive Storage subscriptions.
  • In Google proposals for Drive Storage, the quantity of licenses can no longer be edited.

Transfers

  • When you accept the transfer of a customer on a Flexible plan, the console now displays the customer's number of assigned licenses.

Drive Enterprise is now Essentials, a Google Workspace edition. Learn more

There are two offerings: G Suite Essentials and G Suite Enterprise Essentials. Compare key features.

  • G Suite Essentials gives you Google Meet for secure video meetings, Google Drive for cloud storage, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and administrative controls. With G Suite Essentials, customers get many of the features of other editions of G Suite but without the cost of services customers might not need, like Gmail and Calendar.
  • G Suite Enterprise Essentials provides advanced security and Meet features.

You can order G Suite Essentials in the Channel Services Console or the Partner Sales Tool (commited seat-based billing). To place an order for G Suite Enterprise Essentials, use the Partner Sales Tool.

Orders

  • G Suite for Education is now available to order in the console.
  • You can accept proposals with multiple G Suite editions (partial domain licensing) in the console.
  • Trial subscriptions display the date that the trial will end or has ended.
  • Fixed the settings for a subscription's status and licenses. Now, you can change the status only for subscriptions that are Active or that you set to Suspended. Also, the license cap can't be changed for suspended accounts.
  • Updates to the interface for accessibility and usability.

Billing

On the Billing page, billing accounts are now sorted by status (active accounts listed first) and include a status icon for easier scanning. Also, you can change your payment method from monthly invoicing to automatic credit card payments.

Account settings

  • For easier management of multiple accounts, the console now shows your account address in the upper right.
  • Removed obsolete field for adding support information to the Admin console help panel.

View a customer's number of licenses

The customer's subscriptions now display the number of assigned licenses and purchased licenses (for annual plans).

Set the customer's language preference

Choose a customer's language when you create or edit their account. Click Language code to select the default language for their Admin console and services.

Cancel G Suite Archived User subscriptions

You can now cancel subscriptions for G Suite Business - Archived User or G Suite Enterprise - Archived User in the Channel Services Console. The subscriptions are canceled immediately (no option for temporary suspension). Learn more.

  • Sort a customer's order history by order number, timestamp, product, or action.

  • Download a list of all your customers on the Customers page (requires super admin privileges).

  • The renewal, trial end, and subscription dates now include the hour and minutes (in GMT) and the time remaining.
  • End a subscription's trial period and start a paid subscription.

  • Start a paid subscription after the free trial period expired (payment plan is listed as Grace plan).

Bug fixes

  • When a customer transfer failed, the alert message didn't include the reason.
  • Placing an order for customer incorrectly showed an alert for a transfer.
