Mark a location permanently closed

If any of your locations permanently closes, you can mark it “Permanently closed” on Google to keep your customers up to date.

If you have only one Business Profile

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google My Business app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Profile and then  View all.
  3. Tap Mark as permanently closed and then OK.

The profile will now appear as permanently closed on Google Maps and Search.

If you have multiple profiles

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google My Business app.
  2. From the list, select all the locations that you want to mark "Permanently closed."
  3. At the bottom, tap Profile and then View all.
  4. Tap Permanently closed and then OK.

The location now displays as permanently closed on Google Maps and Search.

If your business location is reported as closed

If Google receives an update that a location is permanently closed, then you might get a “Reported as permanently closed” notification. 

  • In the notification, tap Reported as permanently closed and then Confirm closed.

The profile now displays as “Permanently closed” on Google Maps and Search.

Tip: If any of your locations are mistakenly marked permanently closed, you can reopen the location.
