[GA4] Audiences report

The Audiences report is a pre-made detailed report that you can use to identify your most engaged and profitable audiences. It includes any audience with at least one user in the specified time period.

The report is available in the User Attributes topic on the left in Reports. If you don't see the report, an administrator or editor can add the report through the report library.

Important: You may experience significant differences when exporting Google Analytics audiences to other products like Google Ads. Learn more about these differences

View the Audiences report

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
  2. In Reports Reports, under User, click User attributes > Audiences.
Note: If you don't see the report, the report may have been removed, or the report isn't included in your default set of reports. If you're an editor or administrator, you can add the report to the left navigation. Learn How to add the report.

View details about an audience

You can click the name of an audience in the report to open a more detailed report about the audience.

Dimensions in the report

The report includes the following dimensions. If you are an Editor or Administrator, you can add or remove dimensions in the report.

Metric What it is How it's populated

Audience

The name of an audience that users belong to during the date range selected. Current user behavior does not affect historical audience membership in reports. This dimension is populated automatically when you create audiences.

Metrics in the report

The report includes the following metrics. If you are an Editor or Administrator, you can add or remove metrics in the report.

Metric What it is How it's populated

Active users

The number of distinct users in an audience who visited your website or app.

This metric is populated automatically.

Average session duration

The average duration (in seconds) of the sessions of the users in an audience.

This metric is populated automatically.

New users

The number of new users in an audience who interacted with your site or app for the first time.

This metric is populated automatically.

Sessions

The number of sessions that began on your website or app. Learn more about sessions

This metric is populated automatically.

Views per session

The number of app screens or web pages users in an audience viewed per session. Repeated views of a single page or screen are counted.

This metric is populated automatically.

Total revenue

The total revenue from purchases, in-app purchases, subscriptions, and ad revenue associated with the users in an audience.

This metric is the sum of the purchase, in_app_purchase, app_store_subscription_renew, and app_store_subscription_convert events, as well as ad revenue, which is populated via the Google AdMob integration, Google Ad Manager integration, or by sending the ad_impression event from a third-party integration.
