To keep a record of events that have had an impact on the performance of your account, in the “Reports > Events” view, you can add a note (annotation) to help explain significant fluctuations in reported metrics on a particular day that cannot be reported on by our exchange such as a redesign of a site, a change to SEO, or an impactful event (i.e., a natural disaster, a conference or a political event).
You can add, edit, or delete these annotations while using the:
- “Events” report
- ‘Timeline’ view of any other report
Add a note
- Sign in to your AdSense account.
- Click Reports.
- Create a report, or select a saved report.
- Above the graph, click the events button
. Your change events, for the report currently selected, appear along the bottom of the graph as small numbers in boxes.
- Under the graph, in the Events table, click Add note. You can also click the floating + sign to add a note. In both cases, the ‘Add note’ window opens.
- Using the calendar widget, select your date.
- In the ‘Note’ field, enter your text description (1000 character limit).
- Click Save. The new note is displayed in the Events table under the graph.
The email address of the user who created the note is logged and can be used to send an email to the note creator.
Edit a note
- Sign in to your AdSense account.
- Click Reports.
- Create a report, or select a saved report.
- Above the graph, click the Show events checkbox. Your change events, for the report currently selected, appear along the bottom of the graph as small numbers.
- From the “Events” graph, locate the note you want to change.
- Click the number (within a small box with a grey bar on top) on the graph to jump to the date and change the description of the user-created note.
- Click the edit link.
- From the ‘Edit note’ window, make your date and text changes.
- Click Submit. To delete a note, click the remove link.
- All users can create new notes.
- All users can view all notes.
- Any user can edit or delete their own notes.
