Out-stream video ad formats
Video ads are generally defined by where they appear (within or outside of a stream), their creative components (only video, or in combination with other assets), and whether the user receives something for watching a video. While users are shown "in-stream" ads inside a video content player, "out-stream" ads are shown outside of a video player. Users are shown these ads in articles, social feeds, between levels of a game, etc.
Out-stream video competes in a single unified auction with your other standard display and native ads. It's available to Open Auction inventory and Private Auctions. Preferred Deals and Programmatic Guaranteed are also available in beta. Bid requests are marked as out-stream for third-party buyers.
Learn more about out-stream video ad formats in the IAB documentation.
In‑article video ads
Ads with video-only creatives, which appear between paragraphs of editorial content, existing as a standalone branded message.
In-article video ads are supported for mobile web, mobile app, and desktop inventory.
In‑feed video ads
Ads with video-only creatives, which appear in a social feed, without the additional style assets or configurations that appear in native video ads.
In-feed video ads are supported for mobile web, mobile app, and desktop inventory.
Native video ads
Ads with creative assets beyond only video, which appear between paragraphs of text content in an article, or in a social feed, with extra styling that matches the article or feed (for example, fonts and headings).
Native video ads are supported for desktop, mobile web and app inventory.
Rewarded video ads
Ads with video-only creatives that users explicitly opt into, which could appear between levels of a game to reward users with the ability to play a new level, or after the first paragraph of an article to unlock the remaining portion of the article.
Rewarded video ads are supported for mobile app inventory.
Interstitial video ads
Ads with full-screen video that appear between experiences in mobile app navigation. They present a user with rich HTML5 experiences at natural app transition points such as launch, video pre-roll, or game-level load.
Interstitial video ads are supported for mobile app inventory.
Out-stream video ads must comply with the out-stream video ad policy.
