When you generate an ad tag, you have the option to select an existing or create a new ad unit. Google Ad Manager strongly recommends that you create unique ad units for DAI, which allows you to assign specific creatives to specific DAI inventory and run reports exclusively on DAI delivery.
Dynamic Ad Insertion requires the use of optimized pods. Standard pods are not supported.
Generate the ad tag
- Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
- Click Inventory
Ad units.
- Locate and select your DAI ad unit.
- Click Tags.
- Select "Google Publisher Tag for Video and Audio" and click Continue.
-
Complete the steps to generate a video ad tag and ensure the following when you select your tag options:
-
Turn on "Enable for "Live traffic" if this tag runs ads on a live event. This step is not necessary for VOD.
-
Select ad unit sizes for video only. These are designated by a "v" in the unit size (for example, 640x480v).
-
-
Click Continue after you select your tag options.
-
Click Copy tag.
Modify the ad tag
Whether the inventory is for a live linear stream or a VOD content source, the ad tag needs to be modified and saved to the correct location. Depending on your execution, make the modifications below.
Your video player or app can change the parameters of the ad tag when it requests ads for individual user streams, but the tag specified in Ad Manager needs to conform to the below.
