Block or unblock people's accounts

To avoid unwanted interactions, you can block other users in certain Google products, like Google Chat and Photos. When you block, you block a specific Google Account.

To block another person's account, use the "Block" action in one of these products.

When you block someone in Google Chat (chat.google.com), that person's account is blocked in all products listed on this page.

Use Google Maps to block an account

Block a user profile

You can use a mobile device to block someone from being able to find your profile on Maps. Google Maps won't let them know you blocked them. When you block a user profile in Google Maps, that person's account is blocked in all products listed on this page.

Important: People you block may still be able to find your contributions on Google Maps, but they won't find them on your profile. Also, if a blocked user is not signed into the account that you blocked, they'll be able to find your contributions.

  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Navigate to the user profile you want to block. You can find user profiles:
    • At the top of a post or review by that user.
    • On your "Following" tab, if you're following them.
    • On your "Followers" tab, if they're following you.
    • In the "For you" section. Tap their profile picture.
  3. Next to the person's name, tap More Moreand then Block user.

Tip: If you're following someone and no longer want to see their content, you can unfollow them rather than block them.

Block a location request

When you block a location request in Google Maps, the person's account is blocked in all products listed on this page.

Use YouTube to block an account

When you block someone in YouTube, that person's account is blocked in all products listed on this page.

You can block someone in YouTube through live chat or through your notifications inbox, if someone mentioned your channel or shared your content through a post.

Find blocked accounts or unblock someone

    1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
    2. At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial and then Manage your Google Account. If you don't use Gmail, go to myaccount.google.com.
  1. At the top, tap People & sharing.
  2. Under "Contacts," tap Blocked.
  3. You'll find a list of accounts you blocked across Google products. To unblock someone, next to that person's name, select Remove Remove

Tip: The "Blocked users" list doesn't include:

  • Accounts blocked through YouTube channels or live chat.
  • Blocked email addresses.
  • Phone numbers you blocked with the phone app of your iPhone.

Block an email address or phone number

In addition to blocking a user’s Google Account, you may also have the option to block someone’s phone number or email. These blocks do not block users across all of the Google products listed on this page. For example, you can:

Email addresses blocked in Gmail and phone numbers blocked in your phone app don't show up in the "Blocked users" section of your account. They also don't take effect across Google products.

Phone numbers blocked in Google Fi, Google Voice, or Google Meet appear in the “Blocked users” section of your account. They take effect across Google Fi, Google Voice, and Google Meet, but not other Google products.
