As an administrator, you can track conversation and discussion activity in your organization using the Google Chat audit log. For example, you can see when a user starts a direct message or creates a room.
Before you begin
If you have Google Chat history turned off for your users, you won't see data for users who send direct messages, and you won't see data for the Direct message started event. To check your settings, see Turn history on or off.
From the Admin console Home page, go to Reports.
- On the left under Audit, click Google Chat.
(Optional) To customize what you review, on the right, click Manage columns , select the columns that you want to see or hide, and click Save.

Data you can view
|Event name||The action that was logged, such as starting a conversation or creating a room.|
|Event description||Details of the event.|
|User||The name of the user who performed the action.|
|Date||Date and time the event occurred (displayed in your browser's default time zone).|
