Migrate Meet hardware licenses to Partner Sales Console

Starting from February 1, 2024, resellers can purchase Google Meet hardware licenses using the Partner Sales Console.

Google Meet hardware resellers can purchase Google Meet hardware subscription licenses using the Partner Sales Console. This article contains information for administrators and reseller partners, details about eligibility and explains how resellers can migrate your Google Meet hardware licenses to the Partner Sales Console.

How to purchase Google Meet hardware licenses

If you're a Google Workspace customer, you can purchase Google Meet hardware licenses from an authorized Google Meet hardware reseller, even if the reseller didn't sell you the physical devices.

If you purchase Google Workspace licenses directly from Google, you can also purchase your Google Meet hardware licenses the same way.

You can also continue to use the offline system to buy Google Meet hardware licenses, through electronic data interchange (EDI) or the Partner Sales Tool (PST).

Migrate licenses to the Partner Sales Console

Your reseller can migrate your Google Meet hardware licenses to the Partner Sales Console. The console offers increased ordering accuracy and enhanced tools and support for reseller partners. It also allows you to automatically renew subscriptions by default. For more information, go to The Partner Sales Console.

Eligibility

Before your reseller can migrate your Google Meet hardware licenses to the Partner Sales Console, you must be eligible for the process by having all of the following qualifications:

  • Be an existing Google Workspace customer (either directly or using a reseller)
  • Be an existing Google Meet hardware customer, and your license renewal date is within the next week
  • Own a Google Workspace domain in one of the following declared countries (for direct customers) or in one of the following of your reseller's declared countries (for reseller customers):
    • United States
    • France
    • United Kingdom
    • Japan
    • Sweden
    • Canada
    • Switzerland
    • Australia
    • Germany
    • Netherlands
  • Purchase your Google Meet hardware licenses through the same single channel that you use to purchase your Google Workspace licenses.

You are ineligible if you buy licenses from a different Google Meet hardware reseller than the one you purchased your Google Workspace license from. You are also ineligible if you buy licenses from multiple Google Meet hardware resellers.

If you don't currently meet these requirements, you can become eligible if you consolidate your license purchases by (or before) your Google Meet hardware subscription renewal date. For details on meeting the requirements, review the following table.

Eligible license purchase arrangements

How you acquire your Google Workspace licenses Eligibility for Partner Sales Console migration*
From a direct reseller (1-tier)

You are eligible if you consolidate your Google Meet hardware and Google Workspace license purchases through the same reseller.

If the resellers are different, you must consolidate your license purchases with a single reseller. If you want to retain your Google Workspace reseller, ask the reseller to also renew your Google Meet hardware licenses going forward.

From a distributor reseller (2-tier)

You are eligible if you consolidate your Google Meet hardware and Google Workspace license purchases through the same reseller.

If the resellers are different, you must consolidate your license purchases with a single reseller. If you want to retain your Google Workspace reseller, ask the reseller to also renew your Google Meet hardware licenses going forward.

The reseller must place the Google Meet hardware order using the same 2-tier distribution arrangement that is in place for the Google Workspace subscription.

Directly with Google

You are eligible if you purchase your Google Workspace and Google Meet hardware licenses directly from Google (and not from a reseller or multiple resellers).

If you currently purchase Google Workspace directly from Google but purchase Google Meet hardware through a reseller, contact your Google sales representative. Tell them you want to purchase your Google Meet hardware licenses directly from Google so that you can become eligible to migrate to the Partner Sales Console.

* You must also meet the other requirements to be eligible.

How do I migrate to the Partner Sales Console?

How you migrate depends on whether you acquire your licenses using a reseller or directly from Google.

Option 1: I purchased my Google Workspace licenses through a reseller

Your reseller initiates your Google Meet hardware subscription migration to the Partner Sales Console a few days before the subscription's renewal date in the following way:

  1. Check that you meet the eligibility criteria, paying particular attention to whether you need to consolidate your license purchases with a single reseller as part of this migration.
  2. Before the existing subscription’s renewal date, inform your reseller that you want to migrate your existing Google Meet hardware subscription to the Partner Sales Console. If you need to consolidate to a single reseller, inform the chosen reseller that you intend to consolidate with them. Then, notify the other resellers that you will no longer be using their services going forward.

Note: In the case of 2-tier resellers that buy through a distributor, the reseller is responsible for informing the distributor.

  3. Between 24–48 hours before the existing subscription's renewal date, in the Partner Support Desk, the reseller creates your case ticket that should contain the following information:
    • You're moving your Google Meet hardware subscription online.
    • The issue type is Google Meet Hardware offline to online transfer.
    • Google should move the included domain to an online grace plan.
  4. Google converts your subscription to a temporary online grace plan and notifies the reseller by email.
  5. The reseller provides you with a Reseller Public Identifier so that you can create a transfer token.
  6. You create a transfer token and inform your reseller. To generate a transfer token, follow the steps in Transfer a subscription from a reseller.
  7. The reseller creates a new offer for the full quantity of Google Meet hardware licenses (including any consolidated licenses from multiple resellers) in the Partner Sales Console and shares it with you.
  8. When you accept the offer, the Google Meet hardware licenses subscription is associated with the reseller and is successfully migrated to the Partner Sales Console.
  9. Confirm with your reseller that they are able to see your subscription in the Partner Sales Console.

Option 2: I purchased my Google Workspace licenses directly from Google

  1. Check that you meet the eligibility criteria.
  2. At least one week before your subscription renewal date, contact your Google Sales representative and ask them to create a direct offer so they can migrate your Google Meet hardware licenses online.
  3. Once you accept the offer, the Google Meet hardware subscription is successfully migrated.
  4. Confirm with your Google Sales representative that they see the migration as complete.

FAQs

Do I have to migrate to the Partner Sales Console & consolidate my license purchases?

No, migration is completely optional at this time, but strongly recommended. You don't have to make any changes to the way that you purchase your Google Meet hardware licenses.

In the future, will I be able to migrate online & maintain multiple resellers?

Yes, we hope to add support for multiple resellers in the future, although there is no target date for this feature.

I'm an aspiring new Google Meet hardware customer (or a reseller selling Google Meet hardware to a customer for the first time), what does this mean for me?

If you're a new Google Meet hardware customer, ask your reseller to purchase the Google Meet hardware licenses through the Partner Sales Console to avoid the migration process.

Resellers should use the Partner Sales Console to create online offers for new Google Meet hardware customers going forward.

How does subscription renewal work?

Subscriptions purchased online through (or migrated to) the Partner Sales Console renew indefinitely until they are canceled. When canceled, subscriptions remain active until their subscription end date.

Previously, Google Meet hardware subscriptions that were purchased offline had to be renewed every year.

Additional notes for resellers

  • Billing—Google Meet hardware subscriptions purchased through the Partner Sales Console are billed according to deferred prepay terms. Invoices are generated on the first of the following month of the subscription start date.
  • Online vs. offline subscriptions—If a customer buys Google Workspace offline (not through the Partner Sales Console) and wants to migrate their Google Meet hardware subscription online, they must purchase from the same reseller. If the customer does not want to consolidate their Google Workspace and Google Meet hardware license purchases with the same reseller, the Google Meet hardware subscription must remain offline.
