About click and collect

Pick up later allows you to promote your products that can be collected in-store within a specific service level agreement (SLA), regardless of store availability. Pick up later also allows you to offer multiple fulfilment options to customers and use your shops as a differentiator. Unlike other local inventory ads features, pick up later doesn't require full inventory information.

This article explains how pick up later works and what's required to implement this feature.

Note: The pick up later feature is currently not supported by free local listings and can only be used with local inventory ads.

If you are interested in promoting products that are in-store for immediate collection, review the requirements for pick up today.

Eligibility

Pick up later allows you to provide a direct online-to-offline experience for your customers. To be eligible for pick up later, your website must meet the following requirements on desktop, mobile and tablet devices:

  • Display the option to collect a product on your landing page or in your checkout flow.
  • Allow customers to select the shop where their order will be delivered.
    • Shops can be displayed after clicking on a link (for example, 'Check availability') or by entering a postcode or address.
    • Alternatively, shop selection can occur in your checkout flow after a customer has added an item to their basket.
  • Display the item's price on your product page.
    • Note: The price must match the value of the price [price] attribute in your primary feed. For a more detailed overview of what constitutes a misrepresentation, please consult our misrepresentation policy.
  • Indicate the collection date and collection fee (if a collection fee will be charged).
    • This can be displayed in your checkout flow alongside shop selection. For a more detailed overview of what constitutes a misrepresentation, please consult our misrepresentation policy.
  • Provide an option to select other shop locations.
    • This may be displayed in your checkout flow alongside shop selection.
  • Provide a collection confirmation message when the order is ready for collection (for example, an email or SMS).
  • Customers shouldn't have to enter their payment information before viewing your fulfilment options. For a more detailed overview of what constitutes a misrepresentation, please consult our misrepresentation policy.
  • Allow customers to complete their order (for example, complete the purchase or reserve the item) on your website.

Implementation options

There are two options for implementing the pick up later feature:

Pick up later with Shopping ads

Pick up later for Shopping ads allows you to promote all your products that can be sent to your shops for collection. Pick up later with Shopping ads also allows you to onboard quickly onto local inventory ads since no inventory feed is required. Instead, you can append the collection SLA and collection method to your existing online product feed.

Your website must meet the pick up later requirements mentioned above, and you must be able to identify your shop locations that are eligible to fulfil online orders.

Pick up later with local inventory ads

Pick up later with local inventory ads allows you to promote your out-of-stock offers or your online product that can be sent to your shop alongside your in-store offers.

In addition to the pick up later requirements mentioned above, you must also meet the merchant-hosted local shop front (full) or merchant-hosted local shop front (basic) requirements.

Website recommendations

In addition to the website requirements above, we recommend the following:

  • Customers shouldn't be required to create an account before viewing your fulfilment options (for example, you can include a 'checkout as guest' option).
  • Customers shouldn't be required to enter their address before viewing your fulfilment options.
