Watch YouTube TV on your TV

Ready to watch your favorite programs on your big screen? To watch on TV, you can download our TV app on select TV devices, or stream YouTube TV from your mobile device or computer using Chromecast or AirPlay.   

Watch with our TV app

Our TV app is available on:

  • Android TV 
  • Xbox One, Xbox One S, and the upcoming Xbox One X
  • Samsung & LG smart TVs (2016 & 2017)
  • Apple TV: Apple TV (4th generation), and Apple TV 4K
  • Roku: All Roku TVs, Roku Ultra, Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Streaming Stick (3800x, 3600x), Roku Express/Express+ (3910x, 3900x, 3710x, 3700x), Roku Premiere+, Roku Premiere, Roku 4, Roku 3 (4200x, 4230x), and Roku 2 (4210x).
Android TV
  1. Sign up for YouTube TV if you haven't already. Note: You can't currently sign up in our TV app, but you can elsewhere, like in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. Open your device's app store on your TV or a web browser. 
  3. Download the YouTube TV app to your Android TV.
Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X
  1. Sign up for YouTube TV if you haven't already. Note: You can't currently sign up in our TV app, but you can elsewhere, like in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. On your Xbox One, visit the Xbox app store to download the YouTube TV app to your device.
Samsung TVs
  1. Sign up for YouTube TV, if you haven't already. Note: You can't currently sign up in our TV app, but you can elsewhere, like in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. Select the home button on your device's remote control.
  3. In the app launcher, hover over the "Apps" button to see a list of recommended apps.
  4. Find YouTube TV in the list of recommended apps.  
  5. Save the app to your home screen for easy access. 
Note: Update your TV's firmware to the latest version to make sure you can access YouTube TV.

LG TVs

  1. Sign up for YouTube TV, if you haven't already. Note: You can't currently sign up in our TV app, but you can elsewhere, like in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. Select the home button on your device's remote control.
  3. Navigate to the LG Content Store.
  4. In the LG Content Store, search for "YouTube" and download the YouTube TV app to your TV. 
  5. Save the app to your home screen for easy access. 
Note: Update your TV's firmware to the latest version to make sure you can access YouTube TV.
Apple TV
  1. Sign up for YouTube TV, if you haven't already. Note: You can't currently sign up in our TV app, but you can elsewhere, like in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. On your Apple TV, launch the App Store app from your Home screen.
  3. Search for YouTube TV.
  4. Download the YouTube TV app.
Roku
  1. Sign up for YouTube TV, if you haven't already. Note: You can't currently sign up in our TV app, but you can elsewhere, like in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. Open the Roku Channel Store.
  3. Search for YouTube TV.
  4. Download the YouTube TV app.  

Notes:

  • If you encounter an HDCP error on your Roku device, turn on the HDMI Ultra HD Color setting on your TV.
  • If you experience choppy playback on your Roku device, turn off HDR on your "Display type" settings on Roku. To do this, select Settings > Display type > choose 4k 30Hz TV, 4k 60Hz TV, or 4K HDR 60Hz.

Navigate our TV app

Play YouTube TV using your device remote

You can use your device remote control to select programs and control video playback in our TV app. 

Use your remote control to:

  • Explore the full program guide to see upcoming programs on your favorite channels.
  • Play/pause/fast-forward/rewind to control playback while watching a program.
  • Switch between recently watched programs, including live TV, recordings, and on-demand programs, by selecting options below the video player. 
  • Flip between live channels using the channel up/down buttons on your device remote.
  • Access your library to watch recorded programs. 

Watch with Chromecast or AirPlay

You can also watch YouTube TV on your TV using a casting device, like Chromecast.

Supported devices

We currently support these devices:

  • Chromecast & Chromecast Ultra
  • TVs with Chromecast built-in
  • AirPlay for Apple TV

Set up & use your device

  1. Connect your mobile device or computer and streaming device to the same WiFi network.
  2. Open YouTube TV on your mobile device or computer. 
  3. Tap the Cast icon Inactive cast extension   or AirPlay icon in the top right.
  4. Select your device. 
    • This will launch YouTube TV.
    • If you’re playing a video, it should automatically begin playing on your TV.
  5. Use your mobile device or computer to control YouTube TV on your TV.

Play YouTube TV using Google Home

You can also use your Google Home with YouTube TV to watch shows, movies, news, sports, and family content on your TV. Learn more about how to use YouTube TV and Google Home together.

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble with YouTube TV, send feedback to YouTube or contact support for help

Send feedback to YouTube
To share feedback about video playback or technical errors in our TV app, choose one of two options below:
  1. Select your profile photo > Help > Send feedback in the YouTube TV mobile app.
  2. Send feedback via "Stats for nerds" in our TV app: 
    • When a video is playing, select the menu .
    • Toggle on Stats for nerds . Stats for nerds will be displayed over the video player.
    • Take a clear photo of the Stats for nerds overlay.
    • Contact support to share your photo.

Tips & tricks: 
  • If you're part of a family group, switch accounts by signing out and in to a different account in our TV app.
  • YouTube TV also works on other devices and platforms, like your phone and computer.
