I can't login to Youtube using a Yahoo e-mail anymore

Until yesterday, I had no trouble signing in to my Youtube account (pre 2009) with a yahoo e-mail. Now I can't sign in and it says my e-mail is not recognized. I tried linking my Youtube account to this Google account as shown here https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1637615 but it says it can't be claimed. Please, help me. I've had this YouTube account since 2006, I don't want to change it.

So until yesterday you were able to sign into YouTube with your Google Account using its Yahoo email address username and Google password.  Right-  did you add Gmail to your Google Account and remove the Yahoo email?  Is your YouTube channel still in existence?  Does anyone else have access to your devices/Google Account?  Have you received notification of suspicious activity?

My Youtube account is still there, yes. As is the G+ page on that account (the one based on my Yahoo e-mail). My computer and the iPhone I use to sign in are my own and no one has access to my Youtube account. However, I just noticed that I got an e-mail on my Yahoo mail saying my account has been accessed. I had initially disregarded it, thinking it was my doing because my first thought was that I'd forgotten my password, so I tried the only two others that would work. But now I checked the time and I was not using my internet when the account was accessed. However, I didn't get any other notifications, like a change of password notification or anything else. So, I'm not sure if I've been hacked or not.
I haven't changed anything in a while, unfortunately that goes for my password too. It's what's considered "weak". Should I be talking to someone in specific about this matter? I think I can prove it's my account, I'm the initial Yahoo e-mail owner and Youtube keeps sending me email notifications there. I could link it to Google, if that's the problem, as long as someone can help me sort out this mess that I might have inadvertedly caused.
I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense. I'll answer anything to clarify this matter, I just want my account back.

Right-  that does rather suggest that your Google Account was hacked.  :(  You'd need to addres it like this:  https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/76187?hl=en

If that fails (but you MUST go through the process-  it is absolutely crucial, no matter how random it might appear) please can you contact me in private (here is a video on how:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4W0a7v6oB8) with the following info:
  1. The URL of this thread (for my reference),
  2. The URL of your YouTube channel,
  3. The email address you use for your YouTube channel's hacked Google Account, and-
  4. Confirm here if you can use the email in 3. above (if not-  can you provide an alternative contact email, preferably one used by your Google Account in some way.
  5. Supply any screen-grabs about the suspicious activity/access you received from Google.
I will pass the info you send me on and, hopefully, Google will be able to assist (I most probably wont be told if you can be-  it is confidential to you).

Unfortunately, I get the message that "my e-mail is not registered" every time I try anything that needs me to input my Yahoo mail, even though my channel is still there (I keep checking for any changes). So, if you could help me via private messaging that would be great. I'll try to pm you using my actual Google account and referencing the info you mentioned. Regardless of how it turns out, I'd like to thank you for your help so far.

I got your info over on Google+ (you managed to make contact-  yay) and have passed it on.  I just need you to send me the screen-grab of that email you got and also to confirm that you did follow the hacking article's recommendations, however pointless it was.

Then (and I know-  it should go without saying)-  are you 100% certain that the Yahoo email address was the current email address username for your Google Account when you last had access?
