Collaborate on playlists

You can let your friends add videos to your playlist. When you turn on this feature, anyone that you share a playlist link with can add videos to that playlist.

Before you start, create a playlist. If you need help, follow these steps to create a playlist.

How to collaborate on a YouTube playlist

Subscribe to the YouTube Viewers channel for the latest news, updates, and tips.

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left Menu, select Content.
3. Click the Playlists tab.
4. Next to the playlist you want to add collaborators to, click Edit .
5. Below the playlist’s title, click More .
6. Click Collaborate .
7. Click the slider next to “Collaborators can add videos to this playlist".
8. Turn on “Allow new collaborators”.
9. Copy the playlist link and share it with the people you want to collaborate with.

When the playlist is changed or new collaborators join, the playlist owner will get a notification.

Add videos to a playlist

Once you’ve been invited to add to a playlist, you can add videos or remove videos that you added in the past.

Add videos

1. To go to the playlist page, use the link you got from the playlist owner.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm that you want to be a contributor. The playlist will be automatically saved.
3. To add videos from your computer or a mobile device, go to a video you want to add and select Save from that video.

After you add a video, your name will show next to the video in the playlist. All collaborators will get a notification when new videos are added to the playlist.

Remove videos

1. To go to the playlist page, use the link you got from the playlist owner.
2. Select More .
3. Select Remove from playlist .

Note: You can only remove videos that you added to the playlist (not other collaborators' additions).

Manage contributions

Stop accepting contributions to a playlist

You can turn off contributions for playlists that you've shared at any time:

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left Menu, select Content.
3. Click the Playlists tab.
4. Next to the playlist you want to update, click Edit .
5. Below the playlist’s title, click More .
6. Click Collaborate .
7. Turn off "Allow new collaborators".
8. Click the slider next to “Collaborators can add videos to this playlist."
