Manage your channel's basic info

You can manage basic info about your channel such as channel name and description, translations and links.

Change your channel name and description

You can make changes to your channel name and description to keep viewers informed. Changes that you make to your channel name will also show on your Google Account.

Note: If your school or business manages your account, you can get in touch with your system administrator to change your channel name.
  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left-hand menu, select Customisation and then Basic info.
  3. Click Edit  to update your channel name.
  4. Enter your new channel description.
  5. Click Publish.
You can only change your channel name three times every 90 days.

Use a different name on YouTube than Google

Translate channel name and description

You can add translations for your channel name and description to help your videos to reach a global audience.
  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left-hand menu, select Customisation and then Basic info and then ADD LANGUAGE.
  3. Select the Original language, then select the Translation language.
  4. Enter the translations for your channel name and description.
  5. Click DONE.

Add links to your banner image

You can highlight up to five site links on your channel homepage. Your links will show on your banner image for viewers to see from a computer.
  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left-hand menu, select Customisation and then Basic info.
  3. Click Add link and enter the title and URL of your site.
  4. Select Links on banner and choose which links you'd like to display.
  5. Click Publish.
Add contact info
You can add contact info to your channel to let others know how to contact you for business enquiries.
  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left-hand menu, select Customisation and then Basic info.
  3. At the bottom, enter your email address.
  4. Click PUBLISH.
