Find your way around YouTube

Signed in? How you explore YouTube depends on whether you're signed in or not. On a phone or tablet, you'll know you’re signed in by tapping the profile picture  . If you're on a computer, check the top right of your YouTube screen. If you’re signed in, you’ll see your name or username. If you’re not, you’ll be asked to Sign in. This article covers the signed-in experience.


When you open YouTube in a mobile app or browser, you’ll land on the Home tab  . New uploads from your subscriptions and recommended videos will all show up here. Your preferences and activity on YouTube influence your video recommendations.

If you’ve already watched music videos, you’ll also see popular content and YouTube Mixes. You can find the Home feed anytime by tapping Home


Trending lets you discover videos that are popular on YouTube right now. You can scroll through videos or select a specific category (such as music or movies) to view videos exclusively on that subject.


The Subscriptions tab will only show videos from the channels you’re subscribed to. Those channels will also be listed at the top of the page. Tapping the channel artwork will take you to that channel.


The Inbox tab organizes your Messages and Notifications. To view the list of your messages or notifications, tap Messages or Notifications.


The Library tab is home to History, My videos, Purchases, Watch Later, and Playlists. From here you can find videos you’ve watched, saved, purchased, and more.

 Create a video or post

Tap Create a video  to record a video, start a live stream or upload video content from your mobile device.


The search feature allows you to find and explore content on YouTube.To find content using the search bar, tap Search , enter what you’re searching for, and then filter the results by videos, channels, or playlists. Your preferences and activity on YouTube will influence Search results.

Profile Picture

Access your account information and settings by tapping your profile picture. From this menu you can also view your channel, time watched, paid memberships, switch between accounts, sign out, and more.
