mnandaTools & Filters missing from Left Sidebar - "Search Tools" Useless
So the incredibly useful tool & filters on the left side of the screen which I used ALL THE TIME are suddenly missing.
It seems like a button has been added up top called "Search Tools" which I'm to click to add them back, but it is useless.
I click it and nothing happens. Button is useless.
This is making me bananas - why would you eliminate a useful feature?
How do I get it back?
This guys says it's ON PURPOSE???
Thanks for wasting 15 min of my time this morning in troubleshooting and posting this discussion.

Google userGoogle is f ucking evil!!! Why would they do this? I was trying to google for some images, but now I guess I'll do something else because I really needed to be able to decide exactly how big images I'm looking for, not just "large". HOW LARGE IS LARGE?!? ANSWERS ME F UCKING SHITHEADS!!!!!!! SOMETHING CAN'T BE JUST LARGE, NEED AN ACTUAL SIZE!!!!

Dingusmnanda and IrateDude,
It's not been released to everyone, so please provide feedback about it. Please see for example Google Employee reply about how they welcome feedback.

Google userI gave them some feedback alright, you can bet I gave them some feedback. I clicked on the feedback link and explained to them why it's sucks. We should all do this, if there's enough negative feedback, then maybe they wont do this evil thing.

mnandaFeedback? I already took time to write a post including annotated screen grabs. You're welcome.
Additional "search tools" button works only about 15% of the time. Rebooting browser makes no difference.

lborgmanThis is exactly what I see too since today. I just scanned my pc for virus. Maybe it is a virus instead? I can hardly believe they ship Chrome with such a big bug. Does anyone know???

VicdorkI don't think it's Chrome (I'm using Firefox). I think it's Google testing new layout with a horizontal searchbar and some other stuff. I hate it too though... I use the search filters so often and now it requires unnecessary extra clicks.

kamilantI also gave them feedback but I doubt they make any ose of it. The same happened when they introduced displaying dozens results from the same domain when you had instasearch disabled, forcing you to use it.
Please bring back the old layout of the image search page. I'm a photo editor and searching 4MB+ images takes 8 hours of my day at work. Right now I need to click 3x more to get certain results. It's not ergonomic at all! Fortunately everything works fine in Firefox, but I'm worried that you'll soon change it permanently in all browsers :( Please don't make me switch to some other search engine!

aychoiHey all,
Thanks for letting us know how you feel about this layout. I'd also like to figure out why some functionality is broken --
@mnanda, you mention that the button doesn't work. Could you help me figure out what's happening by providing some details? Specifically, it'd be useful to know:
- Browser & OS (e.g., Chrome on Windows 7 SP1)
- Are you signed in?
- What occurs when you click on search tools?
@IrateDude, just to confirm, are you commenting on the "Larger than" tool?
Thanks,
A

Yes, signed in to a gmail account.
When I click on Search Tools most of the time absolutely nothing happens. A grey box is high-lit around the words and whether I click or double click, nothing happens. A few occasions it has worked as designed (maybe 10% of the time), I click it and drop down options appear like the ones I'm looking for - including date range, then I would have to click on that again to limit the date range of results to a specific time frame.
I looks more elegant, but is far less convenient than the old way with the sidebar. I often like to limit my searches based on date range, such as within 1 year or 1 month. The old way I could do it in one click. The new way I need 3.

espatulaAARRGH! How do I search for licensing options? Why didn't they give us notice so that I'm not mucking around with my tools while on a deadline?
Bad Google.
