Google Now Launcher

You can easily get to your feed and do voice searches when you install the Google Now Launcher app on your Android 4.1+ device.

How the Google Now Launcher changes your device

  • Swipe to Google Now: Swipe right once from your phone's Home screen to quickly get to Google Now.
  • Search by voice outside the Google app: Say "Ok Google" from any Home screen to start a voice search or ask Google to do something for you. Learn how "Ok Google" and voice search work.
  • Customize your Home screen: Choose where your apps go, and add a background to your Home screen.

First, download the Google Now Launcher

To get the Google Now Launcher on your device, download the Google Now Launcher app from Google Play.

Customize your device

After you install the Google Now Launcher, there are a few settings you can customize on your phone or tablet.

Add apps to a Home screen
  1. Tap All Apps Apps menu.
  2. Touch and hold an app.
  3. Drag the app onto your Home screen, then lift your finger.
Add widgets to a Home screen
  1. Touch and hold any empty spot of a Home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Touch and hold a widget.
  4. Drag the widget onto your Home screen, then lift your finger.
Pick your wallpaper
  1. Touch and hold any empty spot of a Home screen.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Choose an image
  4. Tap Set Wallpaper.

Help improve Google Now Launcher

You can help improve the Google Now Launcher by sharing information with Google about how you use it.

To turn this setting on or off:

  1. Touch and hold any empty spot of a Home screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then Accounts & privacy.
  3. Turn Help improve Google on or off.
