Add or remove Now cards

You'll see Now cards, short snippets of useful information, when you’re most likely to need them. Cards show up in the Google app when they’re relevant, based on things like the time and your location.

See your Now cards

Android

You can see your Now cards a few different ways:

  • Open the Google app .
  • If you have a Nexus or Google Play edition device, swipe your finger up from the bottom of any screen.
  • If you have the Google Now Launcher, swipe to the left when you're on your phone's Home screen.

Don't see Now cards? You might need to turn on Google Now.

iPhone or iPad
  1. Open the Google app .
  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Don't see Google Now cards? You might need to turn on Google Now.

Customize Now cards

You can't make Now cards show up at a certain time, but you can customize your card settings to let Google Now know what kinds of cards you want to see.

Android
  1. Open the Google app .
  2. In the top left corner of the page, touch the Menu icon menu icon > Customize.

From here, you can pick what kinds of cards you want to see, including sports, stocks, places, and TV & video.

iPhone or iPad
  1. Open the Google app .
  2. In the top left corner of the page, touch your photo. (If you're looking at Google Now cards, scroll up to the top of the page.)
  3. Touch Google Now.

From here, you can scroll down to pick what kinds of cards you want to see, including birthday reminders, Gmail, sports info, and traffic.

Remove Now cards

Android
Remove cards temporarily

You can swipe cards away when you no longer need them. If you want to bring the card back immediately after swiping it away, touch Undo on the bottom of your screen.

When you swipe a card away, you may be asked if the card was useful. The Google app will use this to learn what cards you found helpful, and which ones you probably don't want to see again.

Stop seeing certain cards

If there's a card that you don't want to see again, follow the steps below to change the card's settings:

  1. In the top right above the card, touch the Menu icon now card menu icon.
  2. Touch No.
Turn off Now cards completely

When you turn Now cards off, you won't see any new cards.

  1. Open the Google app .
  2. In the top left corner of the page, touch the Menu icon menu icon > Settings.
  3. Touch Now cards.
  4. Turn "Show cards" to off (grey). 
iPhone or iPad

  1. In the top right corner of the card, touch the Information icon .
  2. Touch Change settings.
  3. To turn off that card, slide the switch to the left.
  4. Touch Done.
Turn off Google Now completely

When you turn Google Now off, you won't see any new cards.

  1. Open the Google app
  2. In the top left corner of the home screen, touch your photo. (If you're looking at Google Now cards, scroll up to the top of the page.)
  3. Touch Google Now.
  4. Switch "Now" to off (grey).

Add a Google Now widget to your Home screen (Android only)

You can create a Google Now widget to see a summary of your current Now cards.

Android devices (except Nexus 5)
  1. Touch your device's apps menu, then locate your widgets.
  2. Touch and hold the widget and drag it where you want it to go.
Nexus 5
  1. Touch and hold any empty space on your Home screen.
  2. Touch Widgets.
  3. Touch and hold the widget, then drag it where you want it to go.
