Safety and civility are paramount. As is the need to nip in the bud all hate content.

You want to see crap like that? Head to Facebook.

Position papers and internal discussions are part of normal theoretical discussions.

Remember Robert Bork?  The position papers he wrote for the Nixon White House came back to nail him (coining the phrase "he got Borked") not necessarily because he believed what he wrote but because he wrote it per the request of his supervisor (s)..

Dig through the US military and there are internal documents outlining the invasion of Canada or Alabama, all done as part of a teaching or training exercise, not as an actual plan of warfare.

I am pretty sure there is a plan hidden in the files of every major company to buy their competitor.  Perfectly normal.

But there are also extreme exercises, if for no other reason than test the planning abilities of the employees.

So internal discussions are nothing new

And the Google paper is just that, a discussion.  And should have never seen the light of day.

We are talking about Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
So everytime a wistleblower leaks documents you are just going to dismiss it as " these are internal discussions, so nothing to see here".

Did you know that Google is currently working on a censored Chinese search engine, which will blacklist certain websites and terms related to human rights, democracy, and protest, while also destroying anonymity by linking searches to users’ phone numbers.

Coming near you !

Internal discussions supposed to be protected under an NDA, yet leaked and obviously left open to interpretation.  I hope they found the employees who leaked those documents and fired them.

China kicked Google out unless it complied with the Chinese government requests of censorship. Was Google just going to lose  over 1  billion potential users?

Absolutely, the real world stuff (The Pentagon Papers) should be brought out for public discourse.  But there is a huge difference between real world actions and an internal hypothetical discussion.

You all worship Google like a God.
You guys aren't really neutral enough to comment about this.

Here is an article talking about how Google is working with the DoD to help the agency develop artificial intelligence for analyzing drone footage so they basically become more effective at killing people.

Btw this would have never leaked if it was not for angry Google employees.

Are these also " Internal discussions" ?
I can't take you guys serious. Sorry

and yet

Google has dropped out of the running for JEDI, the massive Defense Department cloud computing contract potentially worth $10 billion. In a statement to Bloomberg, Google said that it decided not to participate in the bidding process, which ends this week, because the contract may not align with the company’s principles for how artificial intelligence should be used.
