10 months of low-lost rankings and going...I believe we have fixed everything, now what is Google specting from us???

I have read the FAQs and checked for similar issues: YES
My site's URL is: http://bit.ly/e6NQg
Description (including timeline of any changes made):

Ecommerce site - Domain Age 10 years - Male Market - USA IP

We used to have a TLD based structure with not so high rankings. We started an audit on ourselves and find out that the .com was the domain which had the higher traffic and conversions so we decided to change our structure to a subfolder one ex: .com/es/ or .com/it/ in order to potentiate our traffic as a whole.

We did all the required 301 redirects to the pages they should redirect, ".it/results" was redirected to ".com/it/extender-results" and so on...

We changed all our urls to make them user fiendly and we also changed our drop down javascript country selector to a CSS language selector, no point in having country selector since we added a Geo-Locate tool to set price and shipping options for the customers.

We started uploading the new contents by languages, starting with English on February 13th and followed by German on February 23. Then on March 5th we uploaded the domains which we consider as secondary based on revenue, being these Thai, Indonesia, Malay, Turquish, Hebrew, Greek, Corean and Russian.

Following those we uploaded our left primary language, the first one was Italian on March 23th, followed by Spanish on April 6th and French on April 20th and finally on July 6th we uploaded the japanese and we finished our update on September 5th uploading arabic, dutch, portuguese and chinese, having in the end 18 languages.

Now the problem

On May 10th we were actually ranking pretty good, we were on the first page for penis extender and on the second page for penis enlargement, two very high competitive keywords. But on that day the nightmare started, we lost every single ranking and in some languages even our own trademarks so we started digging to see what was going on.

We noticed that maybe a lot of new referrals from the old TLD domians were now pointing to the new .com so this could have triggered Google alarms, even when doing this is not a black hat action whatsoever.

Another thing we changed thinking this was the problem was the javascript I mentioned before, still no change at all, everything is lost util now.

We have another domain http://bit.ly/1rFHJE wich is somewhat similar to the domain in question regarding the orientation so we changed this domain to a new IP and we started generating new content at http://bit.ly/e6NQg trying to differenciate it from http://bit.ly/1rFHJE

We added the rel=canonical tag since we have an affiliate program with dynamic urls and we thought this might be the problem...no changes at all

The on August we miraculously came back on every single keyword, we ranked much better than before, the right urls were triggered by the right keywords and this was a general increase in rankings on every TLD google.com, google.es, google.it etc...then the nightmare came back just one day after, on the next day we were right at the same spot where we were.

We thought that maybe Google was having trouble crawling our site, even though we have most of our urls indexed. Se we changed the header and footer code postition using an absolute position as follows:

- Metas
- Main Menus and content
- Footer
- Language selector and GA scripts

We also added the Last-modified to every single page using our headers to set it with the meta name="last-modified"

Again on September 12th we came back like the last time, everything was good and this time it remined like that for 3 more days and then on the 16th we were back again LOST.

Im trying to find a solution, we have been trying to do everything in our power to re-gain Google's confidence I have talked at the last Madrid SMX to Rebecca Steelson from Google and she told me "this is very strange, its seems you were Google slapped, be patient and keep doing things Google like to re-gain that confidence, this might be an automatic warning" what does that mean, it has been 10 months now, patience is not the better asset we have and the company CEO is about to kill me since it was me who though about this re-structure.

Im hoping someone can help me find out what is going on !!!

Best regards

Quite likely http://www.androhair.com or http://www.haffiliation.com/ (foot of home page is fun) or http://www.andromedicalbelgium.com (still in the index even though you redirect away from it) or http://www.globalaffiliateroom.com (ditto) and various combinations of your company names with and without hyphens and with all the generic and country TLDs you could think of.

This business model no longer works with Google.

Thanks for the reply Phil

I think I follow you on the Androhair and Haffilation sites, I am aware of the text blocks placed at the footer, which where placed by an old IT guy, still I haven't thought of them as if they could have that much of an impact. Still I don't get the problem with andromedicalbelgium, we did redirect all those domains and have been getting rid of them as the times passes and they expire.

The other domain you mention is globalaffiliateroom which is not responding and its not ours, is it a clone of haffiliation?

What do you think we can do for now, I took over all the sites of the company and Im trying to sort this all out but right now Im in the dark.

I addressed this issue a few months back. The last reply I had was from Phyl Payne, which from my point of view was useless since I responded and he didn't got back again, Im assuming he thought it was not worth it.

Anyway, I have seen that this post arose a little interest so Im going to outline what we have done to solve this problem, still its been a mixture of a lot of optimization (BTW suratmedia, we did get rid of most nofollows and blocked the external-resources section)

The first impression was that Google penalized us for having to many links pointing from the old TLD domains to one single .com domain. But we found out by doing a more in-depth research that we had about 680 different sites with a copy (partial or full) from our site, mostly the english version. So the main problem was that Google was not giving the authority it shoud to us.

So we filled every single link at GWC in order for Google to asses them.

At the beggining our concern was having google remove contents from our affiliates or distributors from the index, by considering them duplicate contents. But I have to say Google has a very good system in terms of figuring our when a site is a plain pointless copy or an on-line reseller or affiliate.

This was started during December 2009 and then on January 17th we regained all the positions. This time not that good, penis extender on the 3th page and penis enlargement on the 5th page.

The good thing was that this time it has been like this until today. We have been working on a link building strategy and Social Media and it seems Google has finally given our site the domain authority it deserves.

One can think that this was one of those common 6 months penalization and that all the recoveries during this period, was Google testing the domain, Im not really sure it was a penalization or just an authority problem or some other thing....

Right now we are 17th on penis extender and 21st on penis enlargement and Im very possitive on getting to the 1st page in just a few weeks more.

I hope this helps anyone with a similar problem, I hope I can have the time to make a full review on the case and submit it to some SEO portals as a helpfull resourse.

Thanks for all the help I have gotten from a big number of people.

Don't make assumptions.  I have a life as well and the first page of this forum can scroll in 45 minutes on a busy day.

Fair enough, I take back my comment and appreciate your last reply on October. Still I would have liked to have a helpfull contribution rather than telling us how bad our business model was.

We were aware that wrong things were made in the past and thats something we cannot change. But what we can do is try to fix things as well as try to regain Google's confidence.

Then again, thank you for your comments and for taking your precious time for this.

Regards,
