Ride with Waymo One

Congratulations on taking the first step to becoming a Waymo One rider! You might be wondering what’s next and when you can take your first ride. Read on to learn more.

What is Waymo One?

Waymo One is a ride-hailing service powered by Waymo’s autonomous technology. It includes our commercial public service as well as a confidential research group, our Trusted Tester program.

Waymo One (including the Trusted Tester program) currently operates in the East Valley of Phoenix. We also run the Trusted Tester program in San Francisco and Downtown Phoenix.

How can I ride with Waymo One?

If you’re in the East Valley of Phoenix, Arizona, including Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe, you can automatically ride with our public ride-hailing service after you download the app.

If you're in San Francisco or Downtown Phoenix, you can express interest in participating in Waymo research and our Trusted Tester program through our app.

If you're outside these areas, download the app and complete the setup process, then we'll keep you updated on when Waymo One expands to your area.

 Frequently asked questions

Will I have to pay to ride?

Yes. Riding as a Waymo One public rider is a paid service.

If you’re participating in the Waymo One Trusted Tester program, you may see a fare adjustment applied to your trip estimate (for promotions or for regulatory reasons).

How much will it cost?

The cost of your trip is based on a couple factors, like how far you travel and how long the trip takes. You’ll always be able to see a price estimate before booking your trip. Learn more about trip pricing.

Why do you need my location?

If you’re currently in our Waymo One service area, knowing your location simplifies hailing, which lets us know where to pick you up. It’s also handy for various features that help riders find their cars.

If you’re in one of our Trusted Tester service areas, your location lets us know you’re eligible to apply and helps us invite you to join the program.

What if I’m not in any service area?

Download the app to get updates on our expansion plans as they become available. You can also sign up to receive updates from Waymo and check out our blog for our latest news.

When will Waymo One come to my city?

We can’t give you an exact date yet, but we’re working hard to roll out our service to more areas.  To stay up to date on where we will be driving next, you can check out our blog and Twitter for the latest news. If you download the app, you’ll be the first to know when Waymo One becomes available in your area.

How do I delete my account?

In the bottom menu of the Waymo One app, tap Delete account. You’ll see a prompt confirming that you want to delete your account. If you confirm, all of your data will be deleted from Waymo One.

Will I be in the Trusted Tester program or the public service?

Depending on where you’re located, Waymo One has either a Trusted Tester program, our confidential research program, or both a public Waymo One service and a Trusted Tester program.

In locations with a Trusted Tester program, you must apply to ride. In locations with a public Waymo One offering, you can use the public service, and if you’d like, apply to the Trusted Tester program as well.

Is there a referral program?

We’d love for your friends and family to sign up! If they’re in the East Valley of Phoenix, they can download the app for iOS or Android and automatically ride with Waymo One. To express interest in participating in the Trusted Tester program, they can follow the instructions provided in the Waymo One app.
