Preview and publish your site on the web

This article is for the new Google Sites ("Publish" button at the top right). Get help for the classic Google Sites.

Publishing your site allows people to view it on the web. You can allow anyone on the web to view it, or restrict access to people in your organization. This is the public version that you want others to see.

Before publishing, you can preview how your site will look on a mobile phone, tablet, or computer. When you're ready, you can publish your site so anyone can view it, or only people in your organization can view it.

Preview your site
  1. Open a site in Google Sites.
  2. From the top menu, click Preview Preview.
  3. To see how your site will look on different devices, go to the bottom right corner and click:
    • Phone Smartphone
    • Tablet Tablet
    • Computer Computer
  4. To exit the preview, click Close Close.
Publish your site
  1. Open a site in Google Sites.
  2. From the top menu, click Publish. The "Publish your site" menu will open.
  3. Type the site's URL under "Site address."
Note:  Terms that violate our Acceptable Use Policy will not be allowed.
  4. Under "Who can visit my site," choose who can see your site.
    • Anyone at your domain (only applies if you are a G Suite customer)
    • Anyone on the web (for G Suite customers, this is available only if enabled by your organization)
  5. Under "Allow my site to appear in search results," choose how people can find your site.
    • Select this option if you want search engines to find your site.
    • Deselect this option if people must have the link (some search engines might still find your site).

Note: If you are a G Suite user, ask your IT Administrator if your new Site is included in your company's internal search.
  6. When you're ready to publish your site, click PUBLISH.
  7. To confirm that your site published correctly, visit your site's URL.
