Create and report on Google Ads dynamic search ads in Search Ads 360

Edit max CPC for dynamic targets

There are three ways to edit the max CPC of your dynamic targets. Choosing the right method depends on whether the dynamic target you wish to change inherits its max CPC settings from the ad group. By default, dynamic targets inherit bids and URL templates from the ad group.

Change the default max CPC for an ad group

Since dynamic targets inherit their settings from the ad group, changes you make to the settings of an ad group affect all dynamic search targets it contains. (Note that changing settings at this scope only affects dynamic targets whose settings are inherited from the ad group.)

To change the default max CPC for all dynamic targets in an ad group, follow the steps to edit the ad group settings.

You can apply a Search Ads 360 bid strategy to dynamic search ad campaigns or dynamic ad groups to let the bid strategy automatically set the max CPC for dynamic targets.

Change the max CPC for a specific dynamic target

  1. Navigate to a dynamic ad group in a Google Ads campaign.
Steps for navigating to an ad group
    1. In the left navigation panel, click All accounts.
What if the left navigation pane isn't visible?

    2. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    3. In the "Agency" list, click the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    4. In the "Advertiser" list, click the advertiser that contains the engine account.

    5. In the "Account" list, click the engine account that contains the campaign.

    6. In the "Campaign" list, click the campaign that contains the ad group.

    7. In the "Ad group" list, click the ad group.

    8. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the ad group page.

  2. Click the Targets ▾ tab and select Dynamic ad targets.
If you don't see Dynamic ad targets, the campaign is not set up for dynamic search ads.
  3. Hover over the dynamic target that you wish to edit, and click the pencil icon  next to Max CPC.
  4. Make your edits, and click Save.

Change the max CPC for a group of dynamic targets that override the ad group defaults

If you've already overridden the ad group defaults for some dynamic targets, you can change the max CPC for those dynamic targets using the Edit ▾ button above the reporting table. Changes that you make using the Edit ▾ button only affect dynamic targets whose settings you've already overridden.

  1. Navigate to a dynamic ad group in a Google Ads campaign.
Steps for navigating to an ad group

  3. Click the ad group containing the dynamic targets you want to edit.
  4. Select the dynamic targets you want to edit using the checkboxes in the far left of the reporting table.
  5. Click the Edit ▾ button and select the Change bid option from the dropdown.
  6. Make your edits and click Save.
Note that changes you make to bids and URLs using the Edit button only apply to dynamic targets that specify their own bids and URLs. More specifically, these are dynamic targets where you specified a bid when creating them (thus overriding the ad group defaults), or dynamic targets that you edited individually. Dynamic targets that inherit their settings from the ad group level will not be affected by changes made using the Edit ▾ button.
