Google Pixel•01.03.2021
We regularly update your Pixel so that it's even more helpful, and even more unique. This latest drop includes the ability to easily access and share Recorder transcriptions, a new way to use the Pixel Camera app underwater and new wallpapers to celebrate International Women's Day.
The features will begin rolling out to Pixel devices starting on March 1st, continuing in stages over the next two weeks*[1]. Update to the latest Android version and update your Android apps to receive the latest features. A more shareable Recorder.

Take your Pixel under the sea.
Your Pixel now supports the Universal Smart Phone Housing for scuba diving by Kraken Sports*[4]. Get access to your Pixel’s camera features, like Night Sight, Portrait Mode, and video, directly through Pixel’s Camera app for high-quality images of you and your underwater friends.
Messaging just got easier and more efficient.
Smart Compose is now available for select messaging apps on your Pixel*[5]. It uses machine learning to help you complete your sentences as you type, so sending and replying to messages is easier than ever.
Wallpapers for cultural moments.
Introducing a new wallpaper collection that will celebrate different cultural moments throughout the year. The wallpapers will feature work from diverse artists around the world.
A more seamless bedtime schedule.
Now when you use the bedtime features in Clock with your Pixel Stand, you’ll see a new and improved bedtime screen, along with redesigned notifications to help you ease into a great night’s sleep*[6].

Bringing the best of Google to more Pixels
Google Pixel•07.12.2020
One of the best parts of the Pixel is regular feature drops that make the phone better and better (and better). With the December update even more Pixel users will get to experience our most recent launches, along with a few new surprises. The features will begin rolling out to Pixel devices starting on December 7th, continuing in stages over the next two weeks*[1]. Update to the latest Android version and update your Android apps to receive the latest features. Once updated, look out for a notification from the Tips app to learn more about all of the ways your Pixel just got better.
Let Google Assistant wait on hold for you.
Hold for Me is now available as an early preview on your Pixel 3 or later. If you’re put on hold, Google Assistant waits on the line and lets you know when someone’s ready to talk to you*[2]. So you can spend more time doing what’s important to you, and less time listening to hold music.
Save your Pixel’s battery when it counts.
Extreme Battery Saver is now available on Pixel 3 and later. When the feature is turned on, your Pixel automatically limits active apps to run the essentials so your battery lasts as long as possible. It’s great when you need to keep your Pixel going before you can charge again.
Be there, without being there.
Now you can get closer to the people you love with group screen sharing in Duo video calls*[3]. Everyone on the call can watch the same video, cheer on live sports together, and plan activities – even when you’re far apart.
Great audio, in any environment.
Your Pixel can automatically adjust the speaker’s sound equalizer settings based on your environment, so your music sounds great no matter where you are*[4][5].
Switch between 5G and 4G automatically.
Your Pixel can help save battery life by switching between 5G and 4G based on the app you’re using. It’ll choose 4G for things like browsing the web or sending texts, and switch to 5G when you’re watching movies or downloading large files*[5][9].
Help preserve long term battery health
Adaptive Charging helps preserve battery health over time by dynamically controlling how quickly a Pixel device charges. Just plug in your phone in the evening, set an alarm, and the Adaptive Charging will work its magic.
Be on the right side of the street.
Your Pixel’s GPS is now more accurate when you’re on foot*[5][6]. Your rideshare service can find you more easily, and there’s no more guessing which side of the street you need to be on when you’re walking to your destination.
Translate screens on your Pixel.
Your Pixel can now detect if you’re viewing a website or app in a different language and translate it using Google Lens*[7]. Just take a screenshot or swipe into App Overview and tap the Lens chip to see the translation.
Make a playlist from your Now Playing history.
Now you can make a playlist from the songs you heard while driving or watching TV. Just check your Now Playing history, then export your selected songs into a new YouTube Music playlist.
Home screen, sweet home screen.
Make your home screen even more personalized with new icons, colors, app shapes, and grid views. You can also customize your wallpapers.
You can now customize your home screen with new wallpapers from Disney’s The Mandalorian*[8], as well as famous artworks from museums. Save them as your wallpaper, and learn more about the art and artists.

Hi Pixel Community,
Lotions and oils may cause build up on the fingerprint sensor and if there is any dirt on the sensor it can create issues when trying to read your fingerprint. You can clean the sensor with ordinary household disinfecting wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol-based wipes. Don't use wipes that have bleach.
After cleaning, make sure to dry off the sensor and your finger with a soft cloth. Any moisture can cause issues with reading your fingerprint.

Google Pixel•16.11.2020
With each new Pixel phone we work to improve volumes to make sure customers don't miss important phone calls and notifications. On Pixel the settings for ringtones and notifications are tied together so these volume changes affect both of these settings. Thank you for your feedback about these settings and we will work to make improvements in future updates on Pixel 5.
Update: We appreciate all your feedback on the Pixel 5. We are releasing improvements to the notification sound levels next month.

Starting June 1, 2021, some additional items will begin counting toward your storage quota. Learn more about what items currently count toward quota.
- High quality and Express quality photos and videos backed up to Google Photos after June 1, 2021. Learn more about this change.
- Only photos and videos uploaded on or after June 1, 2021, will count toward your quota.
- High quality and Express quality photos and videos uploaded before June 1, 2021, will not count toward your quota.
- Pixel 5 and earlier devices will not be impacted. Your existing benefits & any promotions remain unchanged. High quality uploads from these devices will still be exempt. Learn more.
- Files created or modified in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms and Jamboard.
- Only files created or modified on or after June 1, 2021, will count toward your quota.

And this is how your inactivity impacts your data after June 1, 2021
- If you do not use Gmail, Google Drive (including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms or Jamboard) or Google Photos for 2 years, your content within the inactive product(s) may be deleted (after reasonable advance notice).
- If you're a Google One member with no outstanding payment or quota issues, you're in good standing. You are considered active.

Google Pixel•03.11.2020
We’ve had a chance to investigate units from customers and, combined with our quality control data from the factory, we can confirm that the variation in the clearance between the body and the display is a normal part of the design of your Pixel 5. There is no effect on the water and dust resistance or functionality of your phone. We will work with customers on an individual basis to address any concerns they may have.

Duplicates or loss of location info when transferring photos on Android 11
Google Pixel•09.09.2020
Hi Everyone,
We’re aware of issues of duplicates and location info lost when setting up your Pixel phone running Android 11 and transferring your Google Photos content using a cable. We’re working quickly to resolve this, and expect this to be resolved shortly.
To troubleshoot this issue in the meantime, please follow these steps:
- Go to https://photos.google.com in a web browser.
- Click in the search field and select “Recently added” from the bottom of the list.
- Duplicate copies (the copies without location info) will be grouped at the top
- Select the duplicate photos or videos without location info and delete them. If you’re unsure, open an individual photo and click the info (i) button. The location, if present, will appear on the bottom right of the screen.
Note: Deleted content will remain in your Trash for 60 days.
- On your old phone, install the Google Photos app from the Play Store, if you don’t have it already.
- Open Google Photos and enable “Backup & sync” when prompted.
- Wait for backup to complete. You may need to be on a WiFi network.
- Set up your new Pixel phone as you would normally, connecting the cable. When you see the “Choose what to copy” screen, unselect photos & videos.
- Complete setup. The other items will copy over.
- Once setup completes, open Google Photos and confirm your photos are there.
Thanks,
The Google Pixel team
Introducing new Pixel-first features with Android 11
Google Pixel•08.09.2020
In September, we’re dropping new features for Pixel along with Android 11, including updates that help you control your media, organize your apps, and make it easier to communicate with friends and family. The features will begin rolling out to Pixel devices starting on September 8th and will roll out in stages over the next two weeks*[1]. Update to the latest Android version and update your Android apps to receive the latest features. Once updated, look out for a notification from the Tips app to learn more about all of the ways your Pixel just got better.
Find your friends with Live View
You can now use Live View with Location Sharing in Google Maps to easily meet up with friends IRL*[2]. If your friends have chosen to share their location with you, simply tap on their icon and then on the Live View button on the right side of your screen. You’ll see where they are in relation to you, along with how far away they are. Tapping on “Start” will then show you arrows and directions placed right on top of your world so you can see exactly which way to go.
Smart Replies in Gboard
The new Smart Reply on your Pixel’s keyboard makes typing effortless by giving you helpful responses when you’re using chat apps*[3]. And it’s all processed on your phone to protect your privacy.
Better productivity with Overview Actions
Your Pixel will also give you more convenient ways to select text and images, or take a screenshot with the new overview actions. So whether you’re copying and pasting, saving or sharing the content you want, you’ll have more options over how you select and engage with content on your Pixel.
Organize your apps with Smart Folders
Make your Pixel as unique as you are, starting with your home screen. Now, your Pixel can help organize your phone with new intelligent suggestions for folder names. Quickly group apps by theme, like Photography, News, Navigation, Fitness and more.
App suggestions at the right time
Now your Pixel can make app suggestions based on your daily routines, so you can quickly get to tools you need, when you need them. Your phone will recommend apps you use at different times of the day, like Messages for your daily check-ins, Google Maps for your afternoon stroll, or the media apps you use in the evening to help you wind down from a busy day.

Hello Pixel Community,
If you’re using a Pixel 4, the Safety app is pre-installed on your device. Make sure you look under “S” for Safety in your apps list and tap to launch the app.
If you’re using a Pixel 1, 2, 3, or 3a, there’s a few requirements to add the Safety app to your device and enable your access to the new features. Note: even if the app appears to be installed in the Play Store, the app features may not yet be enabled and the app icon may be hidden.
To get the new Safety App features make sure you:
- Are on the latest version of Android software
- Have the latest version of the Personal Safety App
- [Pixel 1, 2, 3, or 3a only] Have enabled the Safety app icon in Settings
1. Android Software: Starts with “QQ3” (How to check your Android Software version)
2. Personal Safety App (Check this by going to Settings → Apps & Notifications → Personal Safety → Advanced → App version listed at the bottom)
- Pixel 4: 1.1.313210553.release
